Post your Neoflex (Neofetch) here

You can also install pop-shell and have full window tiling on Gnome.

Pop shell is effectively unmaintained if it isn’t already there.

Interesting… may need to look into Nix, sounds like it’s got a lot to offer and offers a lot of what I like about where macOS has gone - immutable system, etc.

Nice.

Pop-shell replaces the gnome workflow rather than enhances it imo, didn’t sit right with me.

Isn’t NixOS meant for multiple system easy drop-in deployments? If you want immutable just as an end user look at Fedora Silverblue or Aeon Desktop (formerly opensuse micro os desktop)

I find gTile much more useful, if you need a bit more control over your windows.

Btw, my screenshot featured full-fledged tiling manager for Windows, aka “tablet mode”, not just window snapping

Yeah gTile is really popular, never tried it myself tho as the demo seemed a bit too hacky, but it’s my first pick if I ever find Tiling Assistant restricting.
So far it suits my epic normie mouse-n-keyboard ninja skills, I’m a simple man. Gone are the days of i3, Arch and the likes btw. As I get older and stupider things need to be predictable, simple and pretty out of the box.

Hot damn now that’s a big brain move

Fair enough, I ended up using several presets, I like 4 windows in half + 3 thirds on the other half layout and basically few other combinations depending on what I’m doing. So, yeah, if it gets the job done, even if it’s a bit hacky, I’m all for it.

New lappy. Stoked about 4:3 HiDPI 120Hz screen.

Still very stoked on NixOS. Made moving from the old lappy to the new lappy very easy.

I’ve been on NixOS for the past decade, and while I love most of it, the recent drama put a bad taste in my mouth, so this weekend I decided to try something new.

The install wasn’t that bad actually. The most time-consuming part was getting pipewire to work.

Can you please give me a one or two sentence summary what kind of drama unfolded with NixOS? I think I am out of the loop.

The founder was forced to resign and basically a coup where the entire leadership was replaced followed. Heterosexual quotas became a bigger issue than software development, which sits sourly with me.

I don’t know where the other screenshots are but this is now, also don’t mind the different os info again, I don’t know what happened to my own version.
