New PC was born. My new daily driver, this is right after installing the OS to check if everything is alright. Will update the neofetch once I’ve set up everything accordingly. But neofetch, htop and vim are the first packages to install

I just switched to xfce4 after 2 years of being on default cosmic gnome with popos. I like it and seems quite stable in comparison to gnome.

I’m still really new to Linux and will be switching to also using a Ryzen 6700XT tomorrow though that might be only passthroughed. I’m not sure if I prefer gnome’s nicer art direction or KDE’s more windows like work lode so I have both installed currently on the computer and also I think I need to figure out what to do with the 2 TB SSD that currently isn’t connected to anything I don’t know if I can extend home and that’s what I should do or if there’s something else.

But for now Fedora is treating me well, I was worried Debian based stuff might not like Ryzen 7000 series stuff.

Just a user wanting to ditch windows. still running it on my desktop and old laptop but only for programs needing it. I want to try to make this machine linux only … with a windows vm for lightroom on occasion.

alright i’ll join in on the laptop

Just did a fresh install on my primary desktop. I used the new SSD as an excuse to change some things that it would have been a pain to change on my old install.

I find the best way to keep the bossman from standing over my shoulder and watching my screen is to have a color scheme that is just abrasive enough that I don’t mind it but others hate it :innocent: Admittedly this hasn’t actually mattered since I went WFH, but old habits die hard I suppose.

Desktop or laptop, my hardware or company hardware, I incessantly modify the UI of all the software I use until I love it which usually results in everyone else hating it  Every time I have to screen share with my boss, the first thing he does is complain about how different everything is from vanilla Windows 10.

Also monitor settings greatly affect how things actually appear on screen, I imagine my color scheme could be painful on different settings.

Hear hear! I am a diligent worker and always carry my weight, I just hate having backseat drivers and my customizations have a pleasant side affect of keeping people looking away from my screen.

They like to use cooked shit like i3 and esoteric setups so making a standard opersting environment would water down the experience and make the output not as great

Getting new monitors soon, so I won’t be mismatched for too much longer.

I like your style, you sound like an ideal boss my friend!

As a tithe for going off topic, I will provide provide additional neofetches. My primary homelab virtualization server (the secondary is almost an exact duplicate hardware-wise):

And my new NAS hardware which is still in a test case but is almost ready to replace my existing hardware, just waiting on a fan controller:
