Post your hostnames!

What are your best and funniest hostnames for your machines?

Personally, my desktop is hyperion and my home server is triton, named after the moons of our solar systems.

HipsterTriangle and HipsterDecagon are my two machines.

Mine are rather bland, but my Domain stuff is good.

PC Name: PDesktop-WS
Tablet Name: Surface-TAB
Server 1 Name: PE2950RS-SRV
Server 2 Name: PE2950RF-SRV
Switch Name: WDTSHAIP-SWT (Why Does This Switch Have an IP)

Domain Name: Phantomhive
My Domain Login: Phantomhive\Sentinel
Gamehosinting Login: Phantomhive\Construct
Bittorrent Account Login: Phantomhive\BTD

Go On.

Wasn't there a thread already doing this?

Edit: If not I have Mothership (main gaming desktop) Honeybadger (gaming laptop (stole name from logan (no shame))) and Deathstar (venue 11 pro)

Not seeing anything in thread search. @Ethereal

Yeah I couldn't find it either, but I remember it.

Mine are planets from Sol or planets from Firefly (currently just a domain uses a Firefly planet).

If your actually asking, it'll be becuae its a managed switch so you can log in and have more control over it.

It's not, that's why that's it's name. The parentheses have the acronym.

I'm an idiot. Now I see it xD

My sister has FBI Van 9

Server name(s): Sola, Soliel, Solia, Sol
NAS: HAZNAZ
User Machine(s): Nexia, Nex42, Novus, WutWut, InDaButt
Domain Name: nexii
Other device naming convention (such as VMs): Rena, Reno, Renola, etc...

EDIT:
My Wi-fi
Guest Network: Loading...
Main network sit along the lines of Tsuki_XXXXX

I use SI prefixes to name machines on my home network

In my last workplace we came up with as new naming convention:
Oscar was reformatted but it was old and crap
Elmo was a PC with a server OS
Bert and Ernie were servers full of scheduled tasks
Big Bird was a 4U server that got binned.
Snuffleupagus was reserved for the next server that we got.

These were actual server names, just most of them were several years old.

Have to remember them.... this i going to be a task.
Anyway long standing machines tend to get a name, whilst temporary (or machines that don't want to be confused) get a name specific to their purpose.

Desktop - Kasumi
Mac - Mashiro
Internal WWW - Shiro
Internal SQL - Haiiro
Internal Seed - Kuro
FreeNAS - Asuna (This will likely carry upon soon to be upgrade)
Proxmox - Ikaros
WWW1 - Miyuki
WWW2 - Inori
SQL1 - Tsukushi
SQL2 - Yuuki
Proxy - Proxy (I know boring)
Pfsense - pfsense (Another boring one)
GitLab Server - methlab

And some others that are literally named after what they are for... and more for external rather than internal use. (e.g. game servers)

Whilst the servers at work tend to be named after Star Trek ships.

I had a thing going for a while where my important network entities were named after characters in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Proxmox machine (6 core monster) was deepthought

My stubborn old single core box with a backup DNS server and a web server was Marvin

My pfsense box was babelfish

My daily driver laptop was and still is ArthurDent

Unfortunately since the number of IPs I had started growing so much with all the VLANs I had for testing purposes, I renamed all the servers for organizational purposes

I did do a cool thing with the static IP address of the PC that I have in my rec room to control my model trains. One of the locomotives I have a model of is numbered 3985

So when I set up the laptop in there I made sure to give it 10.10.39.85 as an address :P goofy I know but it makes me laugh on occasion

I name all my stuff after characters and creatures in the works of Lewis Carroll. My main PC is Jabberwocky, but there also is/has been: Bandersnatch, Whiterabbit, Marchhare, Madhatter, Bellman, Redqueen, Whiteknight, and a couple others. I really want to use Tweedledum and Tweedledee, but I've yet to have a need for two nearly identical devices at the same time.

Currently have 4 hostnames atm all based on greek gods.

HADES: File/Build Server
ARES: Gaming Machine/Workhorse
ZEUS: RaspPi 2 as CronJob Server
APOLLO: RaspPi 2 as Kodi Client

Close but not for hostnames.

Although there was this one for WiFi network names:

I use random assigned hostnames by OS including letters and numbers, there is nothing funny or interesting about them, but anyway, that's the way i use it. The only OS i used non-random hostname is Windows 7, where it generates username-PC.

Microsoft.
