Post a Cocktail Recipe

I'm not huge into cocktails. I'm a whiskey drinker and I drink it neat. But recently, I went to a food and wine expo (Which is more of a food, food, whiskey, beer, food, and wine expo) and got to try a few whiskey cocktails and they were goddamn delicious.

So I'm open to seeing what other people are mixing at their bar. This is my favorite:

Maple Old Fashioned

Like a regular old fashioned, except instead of simple syrup, use maple syrup.

  • 1/2 shot Medium Maple Syrup (The real deal, none of this Aunt Jemima crap)
  • a couple dashes angostura bitters
  • 1 slice Lemon rind
  • Ice
  • 2 shots Devil's Cut Bourbon (My personal fave)

Squeeze lemon rind in glass and throw it in the bottom. Put some ice in a cocktail shaker, throw in the booze, the syrup, add a couple dashes of Bitters, cover and shake. Strain into glass over lemon rind and enjoy. And no goddamn cherries. Drink. Grow Mustache. Punch a bear in the face. Repeat.

You could also put everything in a glass and stir, but I prefer to shake it and strain it. It mixes better and doesnt water it down too much.

Grapefruit margarita.

Fresh squeezed juice.

Silver tequila (blanco).

Cointreau + a dash of sugar depending on the end user.

Rocks and kosher salt rimmed.

A couple drops of liquid smoke (don't over do it).

You can use a smoked mezcal instead and skip the liquid smoke...

At one of our local pubs they let you put your own cocktails on the menu if you have enough backers.

There's loads and loads of cocktails that random people have come up with and you can just order them.

I had a cocktail called "We hate Ben" (obviously some people had a mate called Ben and thought it would be a laugh to put it on the menu). I had a pint of it without knowing what the ingredients were, turned out to be pretty strong stuff :)

I'm a big fan of the regular old fashioned, but that maple old fashioned looks good. I think I'll give it a try sometime. Thanks for sharing it.

Tequila, silver. Add shotglass. Done.

This is the 4th or 5th time I've seen you post this. I'm starting to think you're working for the company who makes it :P

I usually buy that from a dude on the corner. He uses a different nomenclature. I don't like the turpentine taste in a cocktail, but i love the smell...

2 oz Rye, 3/4 oz sweet vermouth; stir, serve in chilled glass, garnish rim with orange peel, add 4 dashes of orange bitters, and add two mariscino cherries.

Old fashioneds and Manhattans? Classic. Just watch where the rye comes from, where I live it can be 49% corn. I think the average age on this site just went up.  I'm gonna go mix me a rob roy.

Why are people posting straight liquor on a cocktail recipe page?

Because who drinks mixed drinks?

So go start a straight liquor page...

Indeed. As stated in my OP, I usually drink everything neat. But this is a place for experimentation. Stop hijacking and make your own threat if you wanna discuss spirits in general. If you do, I might drop in and give some real suggestions, not littering it with garbage because I want to elevate myself.

Haha ok buddy.

I drink a lot of whiskey, so here's another one:

Irish Ale

2 oz of your favorite whiskey (For this one, I like to use the slightly sweet 40 Creek Double Barrel Reserve)

3 oz ginger beer (ale is for wimps)

1/2 a lime

Get a glass, fill with rocks, squeeze in lime, add whiskey and ginger beer. Stir and garnish with a cinnamon stick if you like the spice.

That's the worst cocktail I've ever seen

I could fill a book with bloody mary variants. To make it short. Horseradish, cayenne, and smoked paprika..

In Canada, we make bloody mary's with clam juice and tobasco and call it a caesar.

I'm not fond of seafood, some recopies use clamato juice. The farthest i can tolerate is the anchovies in the worchester sauce.

I hate clamato by itself, but with enough tobasco, I don't mind
