I especially liked the part where they explained that the only portion of the build they were intentionally skimping on, was the GPU... on a GPU intensive game...
He uses an expensive 2011 board for dual channel memory, and only one gfx card? what was the point? Could have saved a couple hundred bucks and gone with z77. Did anyone see that fail putting on the CPU heatsink hold downs? one was upside down. Some one should get fired at IGN for this.
Because he picked an LGA 2011 mobo, no z77s.

Well, I don't know what the point was in locking the other thread, to be honest. Why not just keep them both open, it's not as if theres going to be any less spam on the feed, Good Lord the list is full of nonsense threads which could do with a clean up.
Now I have never applied thermal paste (I use stock heat sinks/fans and they come with paste pre applied) myself but aren't you suppose to put a litlle pea-sized dot of thermal paste on the CPU then put the heatsink on top of it? Also I managed to watch the whole video, do I get a cookie?

People come around here with worst builds/assemblies than this guy and don't get bashed. The difference is they aren't telling others that they did everything right or suggesting that people follow their lead. Its hilarious and infuriating at the same time to be called a troll by the fat bastard when pointing out legitimate issues. Fingers have obviously been fully inserted into ears.
This isn't just a first build vlog... If it was nobody would care. It's a HOW-TO from a behemoth in the gaming industry. They have 2.2 billion views... There are plenty of people out there taking advice from this video as I type this.
i've seen worse. this wouldn't be TOO bad for an editing rig....
