Possibly a stupid question...[Solved]

Alright so this is probably ridiculous to ask since it probably has an easy answer...but of course both my mobo and monitor had HDMI outputs.

Would I be able to buy a HDMI cable and hook up the two, or its only for a "monitor to TV" type of thing.

Thanks!

i use a monitor on Hdmi aswell

so yes you can. lol ☺

AH so I can hook up a cable between my motherboard and my monitor? Coolness!!

Thanks!

if you have an cpu with intergrated graphics then yes

As long as you have HDMI or DVI (DVI with DVI to HDMI adapter works too) then yep

Well my monitor, a samsung sync master, has the port and so does my mobo AND me graphics card? I'm assuming it'd make more sense to hook up the HDMI between the GPU and my monitor instead of the monitor and the mobo...

Also, if either way works, how will I know its working? What will be the difference, if there is one that can be noticeable?

There is no real difference, but (and I'm nitpicking here) HDMI is generally smaller, so that.

no you cannot run a hdmi cable between your motherboard out and gpu out

do not use the motherboard out period unless you need more monitors than your gpu can support

if you plug your monitor into the motherboard you will be using the integrated gpu and not the graphics card should you play any games

No no, I mean a connection from either one of those two to my monitor.

So GPU to computer monitor or mobo to monitor, though you said mobo isn't good so I'll go with the GPU to monitor if it makes a difference.

I have a graphics card which is an GTX 760 so I'd use the HDMI out of that.

if you have a dedicated gpu, then i would recommend to hookup your monitors to the GPU, because the dedicated gpu, has more performance in the first place, then your igpu or apu, mostly,

if you're gaming the game will be rendered by whatever is driving the display, so if you use the motherboard it will be using horrible by comparison intel/amd graphics, if i wasn't clear enough

if you just use the graphics card for computational tasks however (video editing, crypto mining, etc.) i suppose it doesn't really matter, but around here unless otherwise stated gaming is assumed

I hooked up my GPU to my monitor. I don't see a difference really but thats alright, perhaps when gaming i might notice something.

Thanks guys...and lady!

You will notice when you game if you have a 760, thats for sure, or run a benchmark xD
