Possible upgrades for my videoediting/gaming machine?

Hi guys here at teksyndicate, I was just thinking and you know since christmas is coming up soon here. Im not in a major need for an upgrade or anything but I think I could treat myself a little upgrade for my baby here. So the thing is, the computer is mainly used for gaming and videoediting(After effects and Premiere), and I have noticed it lags a little when having a project open i both (crystallink<3) but ye.

Here are my specs:

AMD A10-5800K @ 3.8GHz
Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4
Kingston HyperX 8GB @ 1866MHz
Gainward Geforce GTX 660ti Phantom 2GB
XFX ProSeries 550w 80+ bronze
1TB  Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm

I was thinking maybe upgrading to 16gb RAM would be a good start but not sure yet.

Ty for answers :)

750+ watt 80+ Plat PSU  prep for the upgrades

I wish people would stop reffering to computers as "rigs".

Also, your computer slows down when it has projects open, it doesn't lag. Lag doesn't mean slow.

That aside, have you had a look at your computer's resource usage when you have a project open to see what's slowing things down?

Is the 80+ Plat really needed? The computer is already a kind of a budget build soo.

*changed the title for you

Mainly RAM which is 70+% at times

And I have noticed with GTA IV, with speccy that my cpu hits 106c at max. but in speedfan i doesnt top 75? and my GTA freezes and crashes my computer?

The only thing i would upgrade is the cpu and motherboard. That would be the thing holding it back the most. Maybe to a 8350 and Asus 990fx pro.

The psu won't need upgrading unless your going to sli in the future.

Upgrading to a new motherboard and a new cpu isnt really a small upgrade like I want, My whole computer is "color" matched, with black and silver so switching out to a blue asus board doesnt fit :)

Ye, i bought that 550w because I do not want to run 2 gpus

Fair enough. If the build is doing everything you want and more there would be no need to upgrade. But its up to you.

I personally would just save up a substantial amount and wait for something that's really worth the performance gain.

This is NOT necessary.

Wahey! What are you idle temps? 106c isn't good, maybe it's being reported incorrectly.

If you are getting those high temps I would say to get a better cpu cooler, I am assuming you are using the stock cooler since you didn't specify. That also wouldn't be a costly upgrade.

Yes, Im using the stock cooler, and I would asume it wouldnt overheat that much at stock frequency? but thinking of buying maybe a H60?

A Hyper 212 EVO would be decent and also MOAR RAM would be a good upgrade, maybe hold off on the RAM until a further dat; prices are through the roof.

from what i've heard h60 is crap, loud, more expensive than supirior air coolers

newegg has an insane sale on an h100 if you can fit it

I live in Norway, and I dont think the prizes have rizen here. But the 212 EVO does look good, but I was thinking something that I could use with a new CPU at a later date, you know, preparing for further upgrades down the road. Was thinking of a Noctua cooler but the fan color..

Wont be able to fit a H100, and I live in Norway so the taxes and shit to get it here would be very expensive I belive. Not even sure the H60 will fit, I have the Coolermaster Centurion 5 case. A pretty old one, but I got it for free
