Possible Processor Upgrade

Howdy Guys & Girls,

I'm thinking of doing some rig upgrades, but at the moment I use the G3258 which may render my changes useless. I grabbed myself a lappy for uni so thats pushed my browsing/everyday tasks there, but I'd like to use my main (in my profile) for gaming and as media storage over the network or via Plex so I think I may need some more power for that too.

So I was looking at potentially adding more quiet hard drives for media storage, a GTX970 or 980 for gaming, and a new processor cooling for looks (Aidos looks crap).

I was unsure on which processor to grab though, im either/or with overclocking, my board will do it and so can I but its not a deal killer. I was more leaning towards a Xeon E3-1230V3 for the 4C/8T but it kind of seems pointless with the current setup I have and the fact i'd be grabbing a nice CPU cooler.

Specs:

Processor: Intel G3258 Motherboard: MSI Z97M Gaming Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866Mhz Storage: Kingston V200 & Seagate Barracuda 1TB Graphics: MSI GTX770 Power: CM V700 Case: Fractal Arc Mini R2

I'm from the UK and any suggestions will be helpful,

Thats a nice little build already I think.

What about another 770 (is psu supports) or maybe a new screen?

This will give you some idea of what to do ... maybe.  £586.00 would make it rock.

i5-4690K will be totaly fine for gaming and basic computing use.

Unless you are doing video editing / rendering, encoding or what not, then offcoure an i7 would be a better choice.

But for your main tasks an i5 will be fine, for gaming an i7 is still pointless basicly.

sell your cpu, ssd and gpu - grab at minimum an i5, then grab a gtx970 plus a high quality ssd.

I could grab another 770 if pricing was right, the PSU could take it easily but the HEEEAT would be pretty mental, and I'm not sure that theres much that I could do to keep the temps in check.

For cooling I think i'd rather grab an AIO as I know the NH-D14 is about the most hardcore air I could fit in my case as the limit is 165mm, but i'm just not a fan (huehue) of the colour.

It is looking like an i5 would be the best bet, however much I slate the i5k's for being everyones first choice :P I just don't think I could justify the money for an i7 seeing as the rig is a media box right now with the occasional game.
