Portable Build

That would be interesting. I would actually be very interested in trying this. It would solve my portable display issue and would be a perfect carry on.

Of course, I will probably downgrade from a titan... and a few other steps as well. Thanks for the link! I'm pretty excited about the possibility.

To be fair, it has a built in PSU. And it certainly does look like a decent replacement for the Lian-Li if I was going for the larger GPU.

Thanks for the info, SilkyZ.

I knowit has a built in PSU, but even with it, it is still rly expencive, and you could put that money to somewhere else, but of course you can what you want :)

I like where you're coming from. Price is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I just see the Node as a case that would make a better steam machine or something that won't be very modular or portable. Do you have any other cases in mind?

I think it could work. And you should be able to overclock it to really hit it home. Don't hold me to that, but reviews have given it some reliability for some other CPU intensive games.

I found this for about $100 that I heard works: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

EDIT: Here is a very similar discussion http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1869662/500-build-4570-7870xt-athlon-760k-7950-bf4.html#.

i picked the node for it, because it's quite affordable, but still has some premium looks to it, and it is quite small size so it could fit in a suitcase or something like that. Also it shouldn't be too hard to build a system in it, and if u are doing any upgrades, i would think they could be done easily :)

Nice, looks good. That's pretty close to what I cut mine down to. I might even drop the SSD just to save a bit more. The other drop would be in getting an ivy bridge processor and a mobo to suit.

I will have to keep my eye out for other cases of a similar size and price, because I agree that it makes a pretty simple system that's small and affordable. I would just like something that would make a better workstation than a recreational piece. Thanks for your thoughts!

np, glad if i helped :)

new build - the CM120 case easily fits in a suitcase (I've built 3 pc's for peeps with these cases, they are so frickin small but fit full size parts.) Has a gtx770, lower end quad core haswell (not that it matters too much as it will still provide more than enough grunt). Plus OS & optical drive as well.

I like that case. I could definitely pull off a build with it, but I toned it down quite a bit:

I'm trying to get this thing down as close to $600 as I can, because I found a decent laptop at that price.
