Pop OS screen is mirrored horizontally on HP AIO

Hi all,

Newer to Linux and Pop OS, I have had some really weird screen issues after installing Pop OS onto an HP AIO PC. The screen is mirrored horizontally, which makes everything scale very small and difficult to read and nearly impossible to use. I have checked that the desktop is using the latest BIOs installed, and there does not appear to be any firmware updates that are available for Pop OS. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.


Does this aio happen to have a dedicated GPU as well, Nvidia hybrid graphics might be in order

have you tried the super+P (windows key + P) to access the options? Its likely you’ve unfortunately had a driver issue… did you download the nvidia supported PopOS version if you have an Nvidia DGC?

ahh,reads on, intel intergrated. You did download the intel version of popOS yes? and not the version with the nvidia drivers?

I remember it’s somewhere on config menu

Is your model in fact an HP 805L? Is it a HP ProOne 600 (?) G2? What do the labels on the machine say. You have not given any really information to help diagnose this in regard to hardware. This will help troubleshoot if you are dealing with GPU issues, hardware configuration issues, or software setting issues.

Sorry I realize the quality of the screenshots are terrible, and had incomplete information. The hardware in question for this post is:

No worries. I just wanted to make sure that we had enough information to help you.

So looking up your model it says this about the display capabilities (HBR2 link rates and Multi-Stream Technology for a maximum of 3 displays (including the integrated panel). I am wondering if the display is displaying two streams to the panel and the panel is capable of reporting as two screens even though it shows as one in settings; like a picture in picture mode.

Could you run glxinfo and post the contents here?

I also see that the system could have come with optional discrete GPUs.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2 GB PCIe x8 graphics card

If you can past the contents of lspci, that will let us see if you have a discrete GPU and if you need to setup hybrid graphics or not.

Okay, so there is no discreet GPU in there and it looks like all of the right software is in place.

Do you have an external monitor to plug into the machine to see what happens? I have honestly never seen this before without a discreet nVidia GPU.

Otherwise, i would suggest reinstalling Mesa and make sure you are on a 5.9 or newer kernel.
