[Please Read OP!] Have I finally done it?!

Alright then ladies and gentlemen, I think I have finally put together the perfect build.. It sure took long enough :P But after much fighting with myself over the necessity of keeping an expensive graphics tablet, I decided against so and it opened up alot of room for an improved build.

BEHOLD! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FIdI << Updated link (finally under 3.5k! :D) only needed to do some small alterations ;)

Yes yes i know, i've had to downgrade some parts liek the harddrive space but in all honesty, harddrives can be bought later on, plus I have an external 320 GB harddrive that works with USB 3.0 plus I plan on connecting my laptop harddrive into my computer so that it saves me moving over alot of the files and shit.

What do you guys think?! Is the 690 a good choice?? I had the choice between the 7970, then the 7970 GHz edition because both were in my range... then I went crazy and threw a 7990 in! and it still came to a number lower than my budget!! but then I decided to stay faithful to Nvidia and their beautiful CUDA cores and said fuck it... let's throw in a beast for the ultimate 3 monitor epic graphic design, Cinema 4D, video editing MONSTER!

feel free to leave a reply, tell me of any changes that I should do :P Go on! I won't stop you! Your feedback makes my day! :D Puts a smile across my face..

Much love from the heart of the middle east <3 :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys! If you haven't guessed already, I'm going to be asking about my $3.5k PC again! You know why?... Because I think you guys haven't got bored enough of me yet :P lol

Jokes aside though, I was messing around on pc part picker and guess what? I need help choosing between two things! This time though, I wondered what the AMD side looks like. Since Ive seen the FX-8350 fit into all kinds of builds, high and low end, I decided to take a few minutes to put together this bad boy. Or atleast i think it's a bad boy, haven't named it yet. ;D

Once again seriously though, This is a hard choice between these two builds and I need your HONEST opinions on which you guys think would be the best for my Video Editing and Graphic design career.

Intel: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EEy9  << Probably seen this guy before

AMD: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EPI1  << The new sheriff in town?? I'm able to throw in a cool headset too! :D

So fanboys and logic thinkers alike, Battle it out in the replies below and please guide me to the better option! Which is the best setup for $3.5K??

GO GO GO!!! :D I Love you, people of tek syndicate

The 3930k is much faster for render times. The 8350 is a better budget (sub 2k range) editing rig. It will still make a good rig, but if you make money doing this then the saved time is saved money. So buy the faster one, if its a hobby thing, the AMD build will do fine.

For now It's just a hobby, but i'm mainly making money off of graphics design. I was just wondering whether AMD vs Intel made a difference like the Nvidia vs Radeon because of the CUDA cores. Also, higher clock and more cores... how is the 3930k faster?? please explain! :3 (I'm a n00b)

Well, the 3930k is a six core CPU, however unlike the 8350, it has hyperthreading (multiple threads per core) which gives you a total of 12 threads to work with. This will tremendously speed up your render times, assuming the applications you're currently using can take advantage of them.

Ahh I see now, So it would be preferred to go with the Intel since it is faster, while the AMD would be the choice to go with if I just want to save up money>?

Well, I kinda already knew that... but for the long run, what would be better? This thing DOES have to last me like 6-10 years..

hyperthreading. 3930 has 6 cores, and 12 threads.... and as far as the higher-end build goes, I wouldn't get a toshiba hdd... their warranty service, and reliablity are shit. as for a mouse, stick with like a death adder or something.

as far as cuda goes, it's only really better than amd if you use adobe video editng. most others have openCL, which is used by AMD g-cards

The 3930K will absolutely destroy the 8350 for video editing. I love AMD but there's no getting around that. If I had this amount of cash to burn I'd definitely go with the Intel rig but since you do not have a sound card on that rig I'd advise you get a top of the line Asus motherboard. They generally have way better integrated sound cards than other mobos.

OKay so the toshiba choice... definitely my last choice :/ not something I'm proud of but I don't mind having it. It won't stor much important stuff anyways. Any downloads and all the mass storage does into that HDD. Unfortunately because I don't trust the Seagate barracuda because of the recent things ive heard about the failure rate and so on I wanted to stay away from that. But I dont have enough money to get a Western Digital either :/

As for the GPU, would you recommend an AMD G card then?? and If you're reccomending that, Are you also reccomending the AMD build? :$

Well then, Could you possibly modify the build to hold a top of the line mobo with onboard sound (and wifi) while still keeping the 27" monitor (or the 2 24" monitors either are good) and I absolutely need the Mic, and Tablet! :$

If you're able to modify the build and keep it within $3.5k I would love you forever :P

I suggest getting the Intel build, but changing it. a 680 4GB is totally possible for this budget. You just have to know where to allocate the funds. Like picking a cheaper monitor( or maybe getting 3 $100-150 monitors instead, which will help with productivity), getting a cheaper mobo, cheaper PSU and so on. After trying that, you should be able to afford

Try this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EQ8c

I didn't change much. I changed the ram, it's basically the same, except the CAS is lower, which is better for editing. I changed the PSU. It's 1000W Gold certified, and it's a great quality PSU. Plus the brand and color matches your case perfectly. I added 3 ASUS 23" IPS monitors. And that's it. It's basically the same.

That's awesome man, thank you so much. I'm just not sure about the monitor setup though... 1080p ?? really? I know it's IPS but I think a higher res would be alot more beneficial to my design work. :/

seagate is better than toshiba... if you use adobe premiere, go with nvidia. if you use something else, go with a 7970 or even a FirePro

What Z said basically, I would change the Hard drive however. I really dislike Toshiba products due to their awful customer service and warranty which someone else stated earlier. I would also get a different mouse. Unless you absolutely need a wireless. A Logitech G400 should do well, cost $20 and is one of the best mice ever. I'll link an Asus mobo too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131805

Wait, I'll try that

This is as close as I can get to $3.5k: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EQoy

And it's still only 3x 24" 1920x1200. But technically, when you connect them( even the 1080p ones), they do have a high resolution

Also, you could just get one 27" monitor

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EQwG

Okay so I downgraded some things, added some things and basically this is all I can say right now. What I need is:

3930K (as per voted on by more people), the three custom things I have included (ATH M50, Intuos 5, and Blue Mic.), and the mouse I know and love (dont wanna change that thank you), and just any sexy case and monitor setup. Also Wifi and sound are quite important to me! :$

So I tried to satisfy those points and this is what I got http://pcpartpicker.com/p/EQCM <<< Bit over board, feel free to help me bring it back down. Doesn't matter what you change as long as the specs above are met. If you would honestly drop this amount of money on it and you trust it to last, then I will follow your advice.

Intel is better for editing

so OP are you actually building another machine? or is this just a what i could with this amount money kind of post? just woundering dat is all

No i'm still deciding on which machine to build. Everytime I'm satisfied with it, I try to change it to see what could be improved and so on. The AMD build was used a comparison, I thought AMD might be a bit better considering it's a bit cheaper but apparently intel is better. So now I'm trying to fix up my intel build for the absolute best AGAIN -.-

I would get a xeon with that budget.
