I've been getting tired of console and I was told by a couple of friends of how awesome PC gaming is. So I was wondering if this PC would run COD well. I was also wondering if I would need to use thermal paste when I build it. Please help!

Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card $214.98
Case: Apex Vortex 3620 ATX Mid Tower Case $31.62

LOL, COD will run on even Intel HD graphics, so you're good on that. You'll be able to handle any game with this, most maxed out at 1080p. Thermal paste comes with the CPU. And yes, you need to apply it. What is your budget? Because you may want to upgrade the CPU and mobo. The CPU is pretty old( still fast though) and the mobo doesn't leave you with a CPU upgrade option, as far as I know, 960 motherboards don't support Piledriver, and most definitely not Steamroller
My budget is about $650-$700. (This is going to be my Christmas present.) Also, what should I upgrade the CPU and mobo to? I honestly know nothing about computers, lol. And how will fraps work on this, will the quailty be good? Thanks for all the help!
Dude, with a budget of $700, your rig will destroy COD. That CPU *MIGHT* bottleneck your GPU but I am not 100%, I would probably go with one of AMD's newest chips..
I would probably go with an AMD A10-5800K but you'll have to upgrade your mobo to an FM2 slot. If you want to stick with AM3+ I would suggest the FX-4170. But don't take my word I have an Intel i5 with an NVIDIA graphics card. I chose these two CPU's to suggest purely from specs on paper and not benchmarks, so..I suggest you reaserch these two CPUs to see what will be best for you..
