Ok I burned an ISO image onto a disc, it's windows 7 ultimate sp1, but I don't know if it will work and I'm waiting for the rest of my parts to arrive so I can test it. I read some things about burning it as a 'bootable file' then others saying 'write image file to disc' and the entire thing confused me, I used ImgBurn to burn it and used the 'write image file to disc' selection, here is a screenshot of the contents of the disc:
I tried running the disc on startup on this laptop, the startup priority was already said to the disc drive, but it just got stuck on a black screen with a flashing underscore key. My laptop does NOT meet the minimum system requirements to run windows 7, is this what stopped it from not even getting to the install phase? Or is there something wrong with the disc?
I know I'm an idiot for trying it on this laptop, but I wanted to see if it might work before my build is finished incase I need to burn it again.
System requirements may stop the install, but there should have been an error message. What program did you use to burn the ISO? Did the program say the disk is bootable?
Have you tried running the ISO in a virtual machine? (like VirtualBox) to see if the startup of the installation starts? if not, then I doubt its bootable
