Problem: Coil whine on my psu that seems to coincide with my HDD Light (only when in windows)
Please Help me if you can any advice/insight is extremely helpfull and I will try any and all solutions to get this DAMN COIL WHINE TO GO AWAY.
From what I hear, there isn't much you can do about coil whine, though if it's particularely loud/obnoxious, you might be able to get a RMA.
What is wrong with your system is you bought a builder series psu, they are crud and i should know after i had multiple CX430's whine like stuck pigs. If you go to their forums, they have a check list of things you can disable to try and stop it but honestly it did nothing for me. My current CX430v2 still whines, if i was to install my tx950 from my amd rig, there is zero noise. If you can send it back do so now, and get yourself something seasonic based as their builder series power supplies are known to be crud.
I spent over double what i had paid originally for the CX430v2 just shipping the whiney psu to Corsair and the third one i kept, the money amount was starting to pile up. Dump that CX powersupply if you like a quite system, cchances are it will not fail but the noise can sometimes overtake everything else in your system and it is extremely irritating.
