PlayStation 4 is an upcoming next generation console set to be released on Holidays of 2013, predecessor of PlayStation 4 is PlayStation 3 that was released in year 2006.
Hardware Specifications of PlayStation 4:
AMD Jaguar x86-64 / 8 core's / 2.00Ghz per core / total 13.28Ghz / Custom
If there are two models there probably one that is bundled with the new Playstation Eye stereoscopic thing.
And uh, how does 8 cores at 1.66 Ghz become 13.28 Ghz total? Unless I've been mis-informed that's not how it works. Or is it more complex than I've been led to believe?
Consoles will die due to overpricing of everything. Games will probably go up in price like they do every generation. I would say $100 for one game. The controller as well with touch screen, light bar, and speaker which is probably for voice command...So yeah thats why im switching to pc lol
But no, I don't think prices for games will go up, if anything we might see shorter development cycles for games making them cheaper, better integration for Indie developers through the PSN store, more digital releases to help lower the prices. I think prices will either stay the same or drop slightly. Now, the reason I think this is, devs already make textures for games in high resolutions, then scale them down to save memory, then upscale them through software to achieve almost 720p-ish textures. Arenas are already as big as they need to be so they pretty much have the graphics down, coding the game will potentially take less time as the architecture is more familiar and assumingly easier to code or without having to muck about with the cellcpu and its strange 9 threaded architecture(1 core is taken up exclusively for the OS hence the odd number). Also to the best of my knowledge, direct hardware level access, no API's and crap to work around.
I think, as far as consoles go this generation might hold its own for a bit. Yes PC will be better, but honestly it don't matter much to me. I'm kind of excited for this Console actually, haven't been excited for a console since the PS2. And yes, let me pre-empt everyone, I am a bit of a Sony fanboi, I try to clamp down my urges to squee too much though.
Jack Trenton (the US CEO of Sony's Playstation arm) has said that the games will be $60UDS still. He said this on video. He also said there will be games from $1 up to $60 and anything $60 will be justified over the $20 games etc.
Here is where I got that info: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/02/if-ps4-games-only-cost-60-theyre-actually-cheaper-than-ps3-games/
The logic of inflation meaning the price went down is a bit daft though.
