I have not seen much Planetside talk going on in the forum recently. Planetside 2 is a MMOFPS and probably one of the most ambitous games of our time. It is one of the best looking games out. SOE merged servers recently so the whole "dead server" thing is pretty much dealt with now. To be honest the game can be a bit overwhelming to begin, but the pay off is worth it. I play on Helios as Terran Republic, and in game my name is PlanetSnide.
We should shoot for around 11, that's enough to fill a dropship, and one less than standard squad size for the USMC in real life. It would be nice to find a couple more to provide air support.
There is still the tiny issue of what Empire? What server? Some one in the EU might not enjoy trying to play on a west coast server or vice-versa.
And if I'm to add my vote because I totally support this, Wouldn't make sense to go with Vanu Sovereignty? Consider their Alien Tech Cultists? That and they are the most Technologically advance of the three.
Sorry I sound crazy but Since Planet Side 1, I've always been Loyal to my Empire of choice.
I play Engineer/ESF pilot, pretty decent too as long as I'm not out numbered, and I'm not flying hot into too much AA.
Edit: I should note, we can recruit in game as well, keep our squad/platoon open for public players and make a name for ourselves. On Waterson, I usually role with the VREV crew, but I've enjoy time with the VDRS and the Sentinals, people tend to remember well cordinated players/outfits and tend to seek out their platoon when online. My experience with Planet Side 2 thus far has shown me that there is a tight knit community growing that values FUN more then anything else.
Well, the simplest solution would be to make a new character on whatever server most of us play on and whichever faction the majority prefers. That way one isn't technically being disloyal to another empire
Use the map to deploy, there is an instant action button to the bottom left, a squad deploy is right above it if your in a squad. Also look for the closet empire spawn you have near the current border (where the color is different from your empire) The action is usually where ever you see lots of blinking dots on the map.
Default Key for the map is M.
Pressing Insert at the warp gate with join a public squad, pressing insert again will deploy on your squad leader, follow those guys around if you can.
Heavy or Light assualt is a good starting class, light assualt if you wanna get into the fight faster, since you can use the jet pack to get over obstacles.
Also Medic is a great way to farm them certs, you'll spend more time reviving and healing folks, but it helps build up your battle rank so you can get better equipment.
Another note I would like to add to those who haven't played yet. It is Free to play, and is by far the fairest free to play models I've ever seen. I do have a sub, mainly because I want to support the game, and it is worth it terms of the experience boost and free station cash, but its not a pay to win to type situation.
Search you tube for planet side video's, and WTF is Planet Side (Total Biscuit) explains some of the in's and outs much better then I do.
They adjusted the Experience system since Angry Joe's review
On top of that he played TR which has HUGE population which mean they don't get the experience boost (you are given up to 30% more passive cert gain for being out numbered)
And compare the Soltice Carbine to the Pulsar C, massivesly improved damage for carbine on the vanu side.
Also if you'd just drop 35 bucks, after three months you get 15 dollars worth in station cash and a 25% boost to experience.
I can earn 800 certs in maybe a week, playing maybe four days, 4 hours. `6 hours ain't bad That was on the F2P model. But also I reinforce where we are out numbered, I stick with the squad, play a lot of support roles.
I earn about 850 to 900 each week I'm active (college student, 45 hour work week, I'm a father so my life is busy).
Angry Joe's review is a bit out dated. Compared some Free to Play games, Planet Side 2 is very fair. Not to mention starting weapons can get the job done.
I will admit piloting has a steep learning curve and does require a good cert investment, especially if you want a decked out Liberator Gun Ship.
All things considered, there is no AD's in the game, and they have 6000 player servers, its a triple AAA title they turn content out for every month station cash and subscribers are what keep the whole thing going.
