I have been having a lot of trouble with the speed of PIA. Anyone know of a particular reason why that would be happening?

The server you are connecting to maybe seeing heavier traffic than usual. I connect to a Texas server most of the time. It has some slow downs occasionally, but I usually only see about an 8% drop in performance vs having it off.
I have been trying different servers, including Texas, and am still having really slow performance. It also slows down significantly after a short while. Strange that you aren't having the same problems that I am having.
I'm in the office right now. I'll run a few tests when I go home for lunch to see if anything is going on in my location. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary last night but I wasn't doing anything bandwidth intensive. Just streaming on hulu and twitch, but I didn't notice any slow downs.
For me, in the past few weeks, it will often be slow enough that I will connect to a server, and be unable to actually use the internet. Then I will switch servers, and it will be better for a while, then slow way down shortly after. I turn it off, and speeds are just fine. It is very strange.
I've noticed this to towards the end of last year up until now. I usually connect to their VPN's in Europe because they're closer, and I'll see connection completely die and/or speeds go down below 50Mbps.
I do have to cycle the connection every now and again. I have my PFSense box connected 24/7. I had to do it about a week ago. It was one day before my subscription was set to renew and I almost thought they had cut it off early by mistake because I had no bandwidth whatsoever. I turned it off for a few minutes then reconnected and it's been working fine.
Are you using their client or OpenVPN? Make sure whichever one it is, is up to date. Try reinstalling your TAP drivers as well. Have you tested your connection without the VPN? It could just be service to your house or your home wifi network. Have you tried connecting to a different network and then the VPN?
I live in texas and have also been having some issues with PIA via pfsense. 7 PM-12 Its been down to be 20 MBPS. I thought it might be related to downloading 10+ terabytes in the last month, but maybe not.
