PhysX with a gt 220?

Hello!

As i understand it with PhysX you can boost your grafics performance? I have a Asus Gtx 550 Ti in my computer right now. Would i benefit by using my old nvidia gt 220 as a PhysX Gpu?

Thank you!

It would give you small boost in some games, do it if you wish.

If you have it laying around it can't hurt.

Wait, so you're telling me you can use a spare secondary Nvidia card as a PhysX card? TO THE ABANDONED CARD CABINET!

yes

even with an AMD gpu

for example you can use a old 9800GT and a 7870 and get full physx

that does'nt sound half bad phosgene, although thats gotta be driver hell... still cool though

don't bother Overclocking the core or shader, OC the RAM that's the bottleneck

Anything under a 550Ti doesn't have enough power to actually do shit as a dedicated PhysX card with modern games, bin your old card mate. If you were to try to use a 9800GT as a PhysX card with say your 670 it would bottleneck the shit out of it and you'd be losing performance.

you would only lose performance on the physx parts, the rest of the game would be running at the framerate of the main card

The 550 TI is his main card and he is trying to use a gt 220 as a dedicated physx card.

To OP: Yes, you will get a huge boost. It would actually let you play BF3 on high (I had the same card and used a 9800GTX for PhysX, helped a lot).

To CaptainPip: If you need to boost your PhysX with a 670 you are doing something wrong.

Also, an original Ageia PhysX card is way better... 8Mb FTW! lololol

Battlefield 3 dosen't have Nvidia Physx.

My bad.

BF3 does not supports PhysX per say.

However, dedicating a second GPU to PhysX in turn also dedicates vector and physics calculations to a GPU instead of the CPU. That boosts the frate rate on mid-range systems.
