Someone answer me why does physics score in benchmarks scale with display resolution? And why does your answer make ANY sense at all?

Call it a fundamental ignorance of game display physics and I grant you that. Explain how it is computed and then answer Why is it computed this way?

The more things you see the more physics tthere is.

Yes but why is that?
Perhaps more aptly, why is it 1:1 scaler?
If there was EVER a case for sampling it seems THIS should be THE thing.
I completely admit my profound ignorance of gaming engines here but I do program and I am really seeing a need for a hack here.
I think I am asking for a reality check of some kind from all that know better.
