Photoshop budget build

Hi

I'M Guillaume and I live Quebec Canada

I need help to build à photoshop and lightroom cc pc for my girlfriend. She's à photographer and need à pc for rendering at home. We got a pretty tight budget for the moment (500-800 cad) and i'm in search for the best solution. We already got the hardware (screen mouse keyboard) and have an adata ssd and 2 1tb caviar green hdd.

If you have an idea for a good cost effective machine feel free to help.

(sorry my english is terrible)

Guillaume

Take a look at these:

Sorry, I went a bit over budget.  However future proofing a system really does pay its dividends.

Go for a cheaper option on the case, aesthetics are optional when working to a strict budget.

i think you can survive on the igpu on that cpu for a while but you would need a proper graphics card at some point in the future.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/pQw6xr. You can grab a cheap Windows 8 Product key online for a cheap price just look around where you are buying it from. It is usually about $25 for a Window 8 Product Key. I have also added a Card reader so your girlfriend doesn't have to carry a small USB card reader all the time and its easy to install.

Card reader is a very good addition(and one i didn't think of), almost all the photographers I know have cases full of sd cards.

Graphics card choice (especially just for photoshop work) seems way overkill though.

grab a last gen amd or nvidia on sale.

I am kinda lazy to find a last gen card that is on sale.I would just go with the best bang for the buck gpu for the situation and Nvidia is usually a good options for photographers who are editing videos and thats why I went with the 960 which seems ok for the budget.

Thank you for the sugestion, I forgot to say that We already have a case. She's actualy editing picture only and is kind of not very patience with her computer. That's why I'm seeking for good solution with you're small budget.

Guillaume

the ssd should help out with her lack of patience and the cpu as well which would help out alot in this case. i am referring to my build though making it really snappy and fast short render times if shes good editor.

Is photoshop more à cpu or gpu kind of program? Do you think there will be a good benefit to extend the budget for a better cpu (4790k or e3-1231) or something like the 4690 is ok? Can I stay with the Intel graphic for sometime and then upgrade when the budget will be there?

Guillaume

Definately go as high as you can go on the cpu (with igpu) and slum it on the integrated for now.

Buy the graphics card later.

Only certain parts of photoshop are opencl accelerated so only some things will benefit from the gpu, whereas EVERYTHING will benefit from a better cpu.

if you work on a3 sized stuff (max) then 16gb should be more than enough, only go higher if she works on A0 stuff and likes to keep layers.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/s9P3vK try this. I took out the GPU and the Case since you have one and rely on the Intergrated graphics of the Xeon E-3 1275 E3 V3, added in more RAM maxing it out at 16GB and added a beefy 600 Watt Power Supply so she or you can add a even more powerful graphics card in the future if she needs the extra power. I am not sure of what CPU Cooler will fit in your case so I chose the Cooler Master TX3 since its fairly small and is capable of cooling down the CPU while rendering. Please don't ask me about Photoshop I dont use it so I don't know what is more dependant

What are the advantage to go with the xeon vs the 4790k?  And what is the difference between all the mobo what justify the price?

Sorry for all those question

Guillaume

The mobo has certain features that justify its price such as crossfire/SLI support meaning running 2 same graphics card, supports overclocking some of those features that are in a motherboard that entices the buyer to go out that particular motherboard. The cpu if you are going with a Xeon it is not meant for overclocking but you can butit is more difficult to overclock  as in the 4790k it is unlocked which means that you can overclock the 4790k much more easily but requires other parts of the other aspects such as the motherboard and the power supply being able to overclock the 4790k. As for the Xeon has the ability to use two types of different RAM which is ECC RAM and Non ECC RAM which the ECC RAM has a lower chance than the Non ECC ram of crashing which is important for very important workloads and it is more expensive to buy ECC RAM than its counterpart.

eww

That don't look great

Flazza what would you recommand and that does'nt look great?

If you arent going to overclock get the 4790(non k) and call it a day, the integrated graphics will be good enough to get by until you can afford a decent gpu.

Xeon vs i7 difference:

In terms of motherboards you are not just talking about features but also the quality of the components.  I would advise going for a decent board.

As of writing, I would now substitute the GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK for the GA-Z97X-UD3H (http://www.amazon.ca/GigabyteGA-Z97X-UD3H-Ultral-Durable-DualBIOS-Motherboard/dp/B00JKCHDC2) as it has considerably dropped in price since yesterday.  Both boards are basically the same, the black edition has just undergone additional stress testing.

Is this something ok (gf like collor match of the ram) trying to choose something that will be good for some years.

Guillaume

I have no experience with that motherboard so I cannot say if that part is a good choice or not but the other parts are solid.

The 5 years waranty let me think it's solid...is there something you would change or upgrade if we extand to 1000 $?  (trying to get the best for the money...)
