Phenom II x4 955 BE

Hello.

I have this CPU and I've been spending some time on overclocking. My goal is to get it on 4GHz stable.

I got it to 3.8GHz stable at 1.4125V.

I thought it was going to be stable at that voltage on 4GHz, but it wasn't... I was trying all the way up to 1.45V and core 4 kept failing in prime95. Should I go higher or is this too high anyway? Should I just settle with stable 3.8 at 1.4125?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the maximum safe voltage is for that CPU, but you should be able to google that yourself.

As for getting the CPU to 4Ghz, you're going to have quite a hard time doing that. Most Phenom II's usually max out somewhere between 3.6 and 3.8.

I tried to google it but never found quite the right answer, they were different across the forums.

The temperatures though were still ok on 1.45V, got up to 55°C with a not-so-good air cooler, but a CM 612S is arriving in 3 days, and I will put 2 Noctua NF-p12s on it so cooling will be better. The only thing I'm worried about is setting the voltage too high.

I'd really like to reach 4GHz, but by the looks of it I'll have to settle with the 3.8GHz.
