Phenom II x4 3.2ghz

I just got it paired with a am3 mobo and 4gb of mushkins ddr3 1600
now why the fuck is the stock heatsink so fucking loud?
its louder than my 4870 at 50%

its running at 40c avg
but i dont understand why it has to be so loud

any suggestions

it's loud because the processor has 4 cores. each clocked at 3.2ghz.

you can lower the fan speed using software like speedfan. but this will increase heat.
or
you can get a quieter, more efficient 3rd party CPU cooler. but this costs money.

Get a 3rd part cooler for it, will be quieter and you can OC the CPU then.

How can anything possibly be louder than a 4870? You guys should hear these things at 100%... 50 is BARELY bearable.

my 4870 X2 runs at 40%, wont disdurb me (dont take me as an example, i can sleep even when the fan is on 100% beacuse im a retard and my ears are retarded)

The stock heatsinks with the new phenom 2's are crap, simple as!

Either get an older phenom heatsink (the one with the heat pipes) or a better third party cooler and watch those temps and noise come right down.

would you guys be kind enough to pick out a fan for me on newegg and post a link here??
ive never ordered a aftermarket heatsink so i really dont know what is good

lol and whatever happened to amd cool n quiet???
i have it enabled in bios

i would sugest a darknight or a collermaster v8. the dark night is slightly better, but the v8 looks bad ass and you cant even here it.

lol thats like 50 dollars

not exactly what i had in mind :S

|:C son, I am disappoint

Whats your budget?

I could spend more than that i just wouldnt spend that much money on a fan lOL

It'æs not just a fan man.. Its a cooler.
Check this one out; best bang for buck out there:

$50 is pretty much what you spend on a heatsink.

the S1283V is a good cooler, but if you want something quiet, get a V8. These things are dead silent, and they look awesome. The Dark Knight, however, keeps the CPU slightly cooler, it seems.

I have this cooler for my CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134

and this one looks like a good value http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887016

STICK WITH THIS YOU CANT GO WRONG EXCELLENT

using a V8 on my 955 BE and im getting like 37.5 idle and 40 to 45 when playing garrys mod, crysis, and other heavy physics based games. oh and you cant even here the thing!!! i was even checking to make sure the damn thing was getting power in it was so quiet!

(using a coolermaster haf 932 full tower)

I have the nvidia version of that.
The xigmatek dark knight still beats it..
