I currently have the 5000+ black edition overclocked from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz, i was wondering if it would be worth the money to upgrade to the phenom 9950. i havent really seen any benchmarks on it and i have no idea how well it performs on new/old games compared to the phenom.
Well from what i have read some dual cores like the 6400 is better than phenoms in games. since u oc ur 5000 to about the same speed as the 6400 then i wouldnt see why they wouldnt get the same frames. So my suggestion is u stick with the x2 for now, n save up for later
If what matters to you is gaming then i would just wait until a lot more games are optimized for quad cores, (i would guess in about a year). by the time a quad core will really do much more than a dual core they will have better cpu's at the 200+ range. So ya stick with what you have for now unless its not cutting it, if u were building a new system id say go ahead and get a quad since many new games, like farcry 2 will probably be optimized for quad cores.
thanks for the input, right now i have no problems with my current cpu so i think i'll stay with it for a while and use the money to maybe get the HD4870. and i have no desire to switch to intel
