Phantom computer?

I have my windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) desktop set to go to sleep after 15 minutes of idle.
But after about 1-2 hours later it randomly turns on. Is the NSA turning my computer on to access my data? (jokes)
I was wondering why this could be? At first i thought it was my wireless mouse but i turned it off once and the system still turned back on.. Is this a known bug? Ive never had this issue with my laptop.
Any ideas? :/

if your that paranoid, unplug your Ethernet cable or turn off your wifi to make sure the NSA dont hack you XD. Other than that, check any cabling for faulty wires. Idk it's a computer. what can go wrong?

it's haunted dude, should bury it in holy ground so it cant terrorize the living .

asy way is to turn off the psu from the back... but it's wierd never had that issue....

lol the computer doesnt turn off it just goes to sleep or "suspended". its supposed to resume if i press a key or move my mouse. Ive checked wires and nothing :/

There could be a number of reasons.

  • There could be a slight flicker in supply to the PSU which could initiate a turn on.
  • Could be a BIOS alarm waking it backup
  • Could be a WoL being received from the network (although this require the function to be on in the BIOS)
  • Or most likely, the there is an internal wake timer running within Windows.

Have you actually checked the cause of the wake?

in CMD type:

powercfg -lastwake

You'll want to look at the "Wake Source -> Type". If this says "Wake Timer" it is likely you have a device connected to your computer that initiates this.

If this is the cause, under your power options set "Allow Wake Timers" to "Disable" and this will solve the problem.

I know im supper late (been working none stop)
But used comand prompt and it gave me this... is it telling me my ethernet port is causing a wake issue?
