PfSense not getting a WAN Address

So i just re-installed PfSense on my router due to some unfortunate events. Now when I click 'assign interfaces' and assign everything correctly, it still doesn't give the WAN a address. What should I do? I know the line works because you can plug devices into it (Straight into the line in) and it works

check your MAC address, my provider will allow only certain MAC address(es) to connect

Check and see if your ISP is IPV6 or 4 you may not have 6 enabled you may want to check that. Also check your DNS and make sure it is up and running and maybe change it to openDNS or Google.

I have both 6 and 4. Im pretty sure my DNS is fine

I have a PfSense box and a Arris Surfboard modem, and sometimes the modem needs to be restarted for the PfSense box to play nice with it. I only really notice this after a power outage though, and its not always the case. Its something you can try though :3

I don't actually have a modem. im not 100% sure ow my ISP does it, but basically it goes from one of those Ubiquity wireless bridge things to my router

make sure you haven't switched the LAN with the WAN.
I've seen it where in different versions, or after an update, the network cards will detect in a different order.

If that doesn't work, leave your modem unplugged and off completely disconnected for an hour.

Who is your internet provider? Is it fiber? Because based on everything I know from doing networking and PC repair for years, you have to have a modem, somewhere. You may have a router/modem combo unit, as many ISP's are pushing those lately, but you do have to have a modem. If it's fiber the modem might be on the exterior of your home. Regardless you have a box somewhere that either has a phone line, a fiber line, or a cable line going into it, and an Ethernet coming out. So find that box and power cycle it. If you can't contact your ISP and have them do a refresh from their end.
If you do have a combo unit (modem/router) you need to make sure it's not providing DHCP.

My ISP line in comes from one of those Ubiquity wireless bridges. So unless that is a modem or they have the modem on their side.

Anyways, we ended up switching back to Public IP because Static didn't do what it should have.
