Pfsense guides?

Ok so, dipping my toe with pfsense, i have hit a wall with how to finish up my project.

I followed PIAs guide to get their VPN up on my network ( Don’t like Comcast and they can eat dirt with selling my data)

Pfblocker installed, and let it at its defaults

So but I also would like to have a OpenVPN server running so I can connect home to enjoy Adblock on my phone and access my open media vault when not at home. WHen I just set up the server through the wizard. it works but the entire network has no outside connection.

Also plex remote access.

If anyone follows a blog or knows a semi current YouTube video, I would appreciate it.

I just do not know enough to properly search for a solution.

Thanks in advance

I used that one, and there is probably an extra step i need to do, as when i do this. I can connect to my home network through the vpn, but my entire home network can not get outside.

Welcome to the forum.

Does OpenVPN work on your pfSense box with PIA’s VPN disabled? Not sure if such a setup would work. I see a problem in that, you are sending traffic to your home IP, but being behind a VPN, your pfSense box replies via PIA’s gateway and you are getting a response from a different IP, thus the reply packets from your openvpn server get dropped.

I heard some VPN Service Providers (VSP) allow some form of port-forwarding on their service, so that you could try connecting to your OpenVPN server via their IP. Such a setup could work, but not sure about your current setup and if PIA has such a service. If all you care about is your ISP spying on you, you could use Linode to make your own VPN and avoid the hassle with using one account with a VSP. A VPS like Linode has some other nice features, but if you care about geo-restrictions, this is the only reason I would use a VSP.
