Performance Difference Between GTX 650 and 770

What is going on guy, long time 'lurker' and finally created an account to utilize the forum better.

Anyways, my current system was built as a bare-minimum system with a 2GB EVGA GTX 650 Ti Boost SC.  This card has been great and has done everything I could have wanted and outperformed my expectations but there is always a time where people want more.  I am looking into getting a GTX 770 (nVidia base model) because I have a $500 dollar Best Buy gift card that needs to be spent before it expires.  I would prefer to buy a card from NewEgg but I have free money just sitting on a card that needs to be used.  The card is priced at $380, which is almost double the price I paid for my 650.  My question is: is this upgrade worth it?  I would love a 780 Ti but I cannot afford that and I really don't think I need something that powerful.  I also chose the nVidia version because, from what I understand, the Titan cooler allows the card to overclock further with cooler temperatures than the EVGA SC edition.  I could get the impression from idiots that do not know anything but that is what I have been led to understand.

Yes I know the price of the card is pretty high and I understand that BestBuy does overprice their hardware, especially hardware from nVidia.  The only reason I am going to buy something from them is because of this gift card.  I am also a huge fan of nVidia and have had very bad experiences with ATi/AMD cards in the past so I still stray away from their products.

Again my question is: what is the difference of performance that I should expect to see from upgrading from a 650 Ti to a 770?

I've seen the benchmark numbers but I do not think those tell you everything you need to know.  Yes, the numbers are obviously higher and favor the 770 and show there is about a 70% increase from the 650.  I am more looking for the input from someone that has upgraded from the 650 Ti to a higher level card recently and their opinion on if it was worth it.  Did they think that spending the extra money justified playing games on ultra rather than high?  I try to not rely on benchmarks for my final decision on a card because every card is different and every machine is different.

I uppgraded from a Asus 650 to a Msi 770, i didn't notise a very big preformance increase, but i think it's because i have an older cpu (phenom x4 965). It's a nice card, but if i were you i would wait for the Nvidia 800-series (if the gift card doesn't expire) or save some money and buy a 780/ti.
