Before I make the journey down this road, I just thought I would ask if anyone had any other advice? I have read hundreds of forum posts directly linked to peltier cooling and indirectly to insulating your motherboard if you put the peltier device directly on your cpu or if you create a separate box which you have two peltiers and so on. Lastly, what do you guys/gals think of the Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z for an 8350? Or even a 9590? As AMD is having price drops soon on the 9590, soo it would make it a lot more appealing than before. Thanks
If you aren't paying the powerbill then peltier cooling is a half reasonable option if done well (big $$$ though). Ive played with peltiers up to 100w, with a d14, vasaline and a dehumidifier. Fun for a weekend but not for everyday use. If you can get the temps just right so they are slightly above ambient then you may be ok with the amount of condensation.
Id much prefer a phase change build if i could afford it >> you can get premade cases like this, or build your own and the temps will be better, consume less power.
Or just watercool....
