Dear Wendel (and gang),
Could you please share your thoughts on why Peltier cooling never became popular? Do you think it might make a resurgence given the beefy 1000W+ PSUs nowadays? Would you guys be willing to do a showcase project with this technology?
Kind regards,
Freeman
Peltier certainly is unique way of cooling, however the main draw back is that condensation tends to build up near the cold side of the cooler and as we know water and electronics tend not to mix too well.
Since seeing peltier first appear as well, you need a seriously beefy cooler to cool the hot side of the peltier. (which would require either a very large heatsink or some beefy watercooling)
Also water cooling has vastly improved since peltier was purposed and can usually perform better alone than with a peliter rammed between the CPU and block.
I've got a few spare high wattage peltiers and I'll see if I can get sometime to do some benchmarks..possibly
Sweet! Thanks for the sensible answer!
