PCIE 4.0, BIG NAVI, Nvidia 3000, & older PCIE 3.0 hardware,

Hi Team.

I had a read through some of the old forums in regards to PCIE 4.0 and GPUs.

My Situation.
Currently have a 3900X on a MSI x570 Creation board.
GPU GTX 1080.

I’m planning to upgrade my 1080 to a new Big NAVI, or Nvidia 3000 series when they finally get released.
New AMD GPU’s come with PCIE 4.0 support, and I’m guessing new NVIDIA ones will also?

Along side this new GPU, i plan to re purpose my 1080 (with driver patch), or get a Quadro P2000 for PLEX transcoding.

So in turn, my MOBO will be running in x8/x8 with the two GPUs installed.

The question.
Will having a PCIE 3.0 GPU, or other old hardware installed drop the MOBO to PCIE 3.0 x8/x8 rather than PCIE 4.0 x8/x8 and potentially bottle neck the new NAVI or 3000 series NVIDIA card?

And i have the 3rd chipset PCIE slot occupied so i cant relocate anything there.
Cheers.

x8 on gen 4 is equal to x16 on gen 3. So you can do x8 gen 4 and still have x16 gen 3.0 running if that helps. I am doing this with my 5700xt and my 2080ti. With this i Have essentially x8 gen4 for 5700xt and x8 gen4 lanes to give the 2080ti 16 3.0 lanes. Atleast gpu-z confirms that navi is running @ x8 and 2080ti is at x16.

Hey, thanks for the details, that’s good to know.
Cheers
