PC Wattage

Hi Guys,

I want to run my old generic desktop as a server, but I'm unsure to how expensive this will be. Any idea what kind of wattage this will pull while on idle?

Specs;

Intel Pentium Dual Core E6600 @ 3.06GHz

Generic DDR3 RAM - 1333MHz - Probably 1.65v, I don't know.

Gigabyte Motherboard, Unknown Model, MicroATX, LGA 775, DDR3.

ASUS nVidia GT 620 GPU - 1GB DDR3.

500GB 7200RPM Seagate HDD.

DVD / CD Burner.

This is all currently running of a 300Watt PSU perfectly fine, but I'm wondering what It will pull whilst idle / file serving. I'm going to run it as a server anyway, im just interested. Also, if you need more information let me know, I'll have to pull apart the chassis.

Thanks.

About 100W; those old CPUs aren't power efficient.

if you are worryed about power usage take out things a server does not need such as the gpu and disc drive.  You could also look for a cheap 80plus psu too.

I'm not too worried about power usage. Just interested in what It might draw. Upgrades for the future! :P

My internet connection isn't great at all, and this server is going to be mostly network storage server and FTP access for my files when I'm not around. I might even make a annon FTP location and post it on here to see what appears on my HDD. :P

Ahh good; I've been looking for a place to store my dolphin porn.
