PC Upgrade, Want Suggestions/Opinions

So here are my current specs:

  • AMD FX-6100
  • ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
  • 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 1866MHz RAM
  • MSI Twin Frozr III 7850 2GB OC Edition
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM HDD
  • Corsair CX750
  • Zalman Z11 Plus Case

I plan on getting a new case first. My budget cap for the case is $150. I'm looking for something that is easy on the eyes but not too flashy. Also good options for cable routing. It can be a Full Tower size too. Also it has to be tooless. My current case is just a nightmare and the more I look at it the more I hate it.

The second thing I plan to upgrade is my video card. I've been trying to decide between a 670, 680, or 7970. I know I'll be happy with either of the three but I guess I'll just have to wait until the time comes to buy it to see which one will give me the absolute most bang for the buck.

So now for the final planned upgrade, the processor. This one is easy though, I'm going for the FX-8350. This is simply the best chip out there for the motherboard I have and I'm not about the buy a new motherboard after I just paid $200 for my Sabertooth a few months ago.

I also might throw in another 8 gigs of RAM for old Minecraft's sake. I host servers for me and my friends to play custom maps on and I edit quite a lot of videos too so the extra RAM can't hurt. And anyway RAM is cheap so who cares.

Well that's it. Tell me what you guys think, make suggestions, give me tips, etc. All comments are appreciated!

Get a 8320 and a decent cpu cooler like the cooler master v6gt and a 7950 and add the extra ram its the best for the money and for the case the fractal r4 windowed is an awesome case.   Let me know if you are selling that 7850 soon I would maybe buy it off you.

The case good sir is up to you, you are the one who is going to look at it. It has to reflect your tastes and style and only you can choose, just pick a few that tickle your fancy and we will give them a look.

HD7970 hands down for me, cheaper then the GTX670 and performs neck and neck with a GTX680, GTX680 is almost $100 more then the HD7970. Here is a bench of the HD7970 vS GTX 680: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/508?vs=555

The processor i agree with the ragingh4vok, the only difference between the two is the clock speed(3.5 vs 4.0) and the price, one is $20 cheaper then the other.

Ok man, and I have a Coolermaster 212 Evo already. And If I don't use the 7850 in my dad's build then I'll sell it! Thanks for pointing me towards the R4 that thing is sexy, I might get it.

Go with the 670 if you're going to be editing videos. The cuda cores helps in both video and picture editing, as well as rendering.

As for the case the Fractal design R4 would be great. However i've heard that you can't fit an H100 in it. So if you're planning on buying one of those maybe the Corsair 500R? It does have LEDs but it's nothing too "flashy", also you can turn of the lights if you really don't like them.
