hello, so last week my computer froze all of a sudden after joining a skype call with some friends, it stayed frozen for about 2 minutes after i decided to turn it of, unnfortunatly i hit the reset button, and now i have a bigger problem.
After going through the bios screen after booting then going through the windows 8 loading screen i just get a black screen...ive tried everything, taken out the ram and alot of crazy ideas some friends have told me, my specs are
gtx 780, i5 3570k, corsair h100i, 128gb ssd (os installed on the ssd) 500gb hdd, 1050 watt psu, asus mobo. THANKYOU!
Do you get a mouse pointer? Can you press Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up the task manager? It may be a case where explorer.exe (At risk of oversimplifying, it is the "shell" of Windows with all your major GUI elements) refuses to load on start up. I had that issue when my drivers were out date on my GPU. It would occasionally do that. If you can open the task manager click file, then run then in the box type explorer.exe and hit enter. If that is the issue you should be dumped to the desktop.
If not I'm not particularly sure. It may be a GPU issue or some problem with the OS itself. Start Windows in Safe Mode and check to make sure all your devices are working properly and that your drivers are up to date.
Mash Shift+F8 as soon as the PC starts, then Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings, then Restart. You'll be dumped to the Startup Settings screen. Press F4 to enter Safe Mode.
If that isn't the issue then I'm not sure what is. It could maybe be the PSU but I don't think so.
You may want to try refreshing your PC or resetting it which can be done under the Troubleshoot mentioned earlier. A clean install also may be required.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Thanks man, as it turns out it is the os, its the third time its done something like this, so ive opted to nuke the ssd and hdd of everything, and start from scratch, not the first time ive done this and its getting annoying but its the easiest option imo.
