PC Locks at Shutdown

Hi,

I’m having a persisting issue with my PC and I am not too sure what I should do about it.

Not every time but often when I turn my PC off it locks during the shutting down process. I noticed that it happens less if I close every possible thing before I shut the PC down, but it still happens every now and again, so I bought an SSD few weeks ago and I thought “sweet, I’m going to have to format it anyways that’s probably going to fix my issue” so I reinstalled windows 8, it worked fine for a little bit I installed drivers and things and probably on the 3th or 4^th time I shut it down after formatting the PC it happened again, I am wondering if it is an actual physical part of my PC that is causing it to lock at shutdown.

Please is there anyone out there with some knowledge on the matter, I want to be able to turn my PC off with confidence again.

MotherBoard: M5A97 Evo R2.0

CPU: FX-8350

RAM: 8Gbs of Kingston Beast DDR3 2400 running at 2133

Graphics Card: ASUS Direct CUII R9 290

PSU: FSP 750W Power Supply

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2Tb HDD 7200rpm

SSD: Crucial MX100 256Gb

Running Windows 8.1

Try reseating the RAM, or trying different slots. Since you've done a whole windows re-install, there's probably some weird hardware problems going on.

Never shut it off ... mine has been running almost nonstop for 4 years now. I've maybe shut if off twenty times at the most. Usually only if I was going to be away for an extended period of time.
