Hey everyone! My PC is having some odd issues lately. Sometimes it will just lock up. I'll be doing something and it will freeze and do absolutely nothing until I restart it manually. No blue screen, or error messages at all. Even when I restart it from freezing it doesn't give me any kind of error message. It does it at complete random times it seems. I play a lot of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and it often times happens mid competative match, and that isn't good. It does happen when just using Windows and Chrome but it seems to happen more whilst gaming. I don't know if that's coincidence or not. It seems to happen more when I Stream with OBS to Twitch. But it happens everywhere. Sometimes I will also do this weird stuttering thing where it'll freeze for like 10 milliseconds and come back and do it again. But it won't do it for long only a couple stutters then it's normal. I've looked up some troubleshooting things already and I've done some scans and tests with memtest and tried re-seating the RAM in different slots and such and nothing seems to help. I've also done a fresh install of Windows. Not sure if it's maybe a motherboard issue, or possibly CPU? I doubt it's graphics card. I've heard PSU could be an issue as well. Any ideas? Thanks for the help! Let me know if there's any more info I can provide you guys with.
Here are my PC specs (Everything is stock, not overclocked):
Windows 8.1
AMD FX-8350
8GB (4GB x 2) Corsair Vengance DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GTX 780 Asus DirectCU2
Intel Network Ethernet Nic
Asus M5AA99FX r2.0
What are the CPU temps on idle and load while gaming?
It could be a number of things hopefully you can get lucky when you did a fresh install did you just install the couple programs that gave you the problem? To figure out if its heat (bad paste job) related use a gpu burner and prime95 to test the gpu cpu. Remove a ram module and test remove that one and use the other one and test. Call your mobo manufacturer for tech support they may determine an rma issue they may have some pre existing tickets with similar issues like your describing. Avoid using beta drivers. I bet money its ram or mobo. Also dust can sometimes cause issues blow out your machine and check that all the fans are working.
CPU temps are all normal and within reason even when playing demanding games like DayZ or Crysis. I just dusted when I reinstalled the OS as well. Going to try to get ahold of Asus customer support tomorrow and see if there's anything they can do. I guess I can test the RAM but it's such a random occurance sometiems it'll be a whole day that it doesnt happen so I don't know how it'll work out
So hard to read with no paragraphing.
- If your system is overclocked, reset it and see if things are better.
- What psu do you have ~ its a 650w Coolermaster but which one? You'll need one with a decent 12v rail/or powered by 2x decent rails.
- Check how what dpc latency you are getting. ~ latencymon, dpc checker.
- Run a live distro off a usb, or spare hdd. That kingston ssd may be nerfed.
- Swap out what parts you can with friends etc to eliminate parts that may be at fault.
