Pc is very slow and programs not responding

i recently built a pc and i installed windows 7.. but the pc is very slow and when i try to open files it will either take 5 mins or not respond..

specs:

ASRock FM2A55M-DGS Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard

Patriot Intel Extreme Master, Limited Ed 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory

i have no idea whats causing this.. maybe drivers? windows 7 messing up?

any help would be greatly appreciated.. btw wasnt shure where to post this :L

Theres a good chance its the hdd thats failing. Download the program Crystal Disk Info and see what is says about your HDD.

i ran the program (took me a while) and it says caution.. rellocated sectors count and current pending sector count are both flagged... is this the source of the problem?

you can download a diagnostic disk tool on the website from your HDD brand, test it with that, big chance it will fail that test.

I would say, yes.

These errors can mean a failing drive. If you made the build recently, I would RMA.

the hard drive was the only thing i didnt buy new.. i scavanged it from an old laptop.. i guess ill have to buy a new one :(
