Pc Inside of a Boombox (Planning Stage)

So, my current plan is to build myself a new PC. That being said, cases are lame. Boombox's are much more stylish, and portable.

So heres a poll:

  • First One
  • Second One
  • Third One

First step is to acquire a boombox (hence the poll), once that is complete I will start to put together part lists and build the damn thing.

So, here's the plan boys. We want a fully functional boombox from the 80's that can run Crysis
Currently, here is the part list:

Storage: I don't know yet.

The plan is to try to keep the boombox functional while also having the pc inside. Once I get the boombox selected from the pole, I will start making drawings and post pictures showing the plan.

Reserved in case I need it.

Only one of the links worked for me. :S

They both work for me. Are you going through a vpn or something?

Update: I bought the boombox and It's on it's way.

This is actually a really cool idea. Will the PC audio also route through the boombox?

Yeah, I plan to make the switches on front of the boombox switch between bluetooth, radio, casset, and pc audio. Ill get some pictures and schematics when it arrives.

Do you plan on lining the inside with anything for shielding / grounding?

I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out ^_^

So, I do not plan on grounding the entire inside if the case. What I do plan on doing is running a wire from the i/o shield to the psu casing. From what I understand, it should be fine. My second thing that I might do is use metal standoffs and wire them to the psu housing as well.

Do you see that as a problem?

It's always a good call to ground everything together. I'm pretty sure the standoffs are ground on the mobo so yea, use normal metal ones and wire a few to the outside of the ps.

Seems like a smart thing to do.

Actually @kewldude007 did you do any similar grounding on your briefcase PC?

He might have some good answers.

Its not like it won't work without it. But you really don't want to give static any chances to build up. It doesn't take much to fry a chip if the right circumstances arise.

Yeah, I think I'll just do the I/O to start. If I am feeling up to it, I will do the standoffs as well.

No I am not.
