PC Gaming on TV Game Mode woes

Apologies if this is not posted in the correct place, I’m trying to get answers from different forums to discover if this is Hardware or Software related.
I have an issue with a Samsung QN90C TV connected to a PC that drops connection in Game Mode.
Whenever I try to start a Game in Steam with Game Mode enabled on the TV it loses connection with the PC and I am presented with a non-responsive blank screen.
If I lower the desktop resolution to 1440p I can sometimes get into a game start screen but the refresh rate is reported as 100hz instead of 120hz. Sometimes I need to toggle game mode off and back on again even in 1440p for the connection to hold but then the game screen far too big to even navigate - presumably something to do with windows desktop scaling?
Clearly something is not working as intended here.
Peculiarly, if I enable GPU scaling over Display scaling in the AMD control panel Game mode operates perfectly.
Does anyone have any clue as to what is happening here?
QN90C is new.
Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable.
PC is fresh install Win 11 Pro 23H2.
Ryzen 7600X Radeon RX 6800.

I have a Samsung QN95B, the only issue I had was the 144Hz mode which was selectable in the Windows graphic settings. With VRR and HDR enabled was taxing the TV hardware to much (TV menus became laggy over time, the TV would blank out and restart). Switching to 120Hz fixed this.

You could try disabling the advanced features HDR / VRR from the Windows side and working up from there.

Whats wrong with leaving GPU scaling enabled? (most TVs aren’t really doing a better job).

This is happens a lot more then you think. I had the same issues with my Samsung hooked up to my computer. I ended up switching it upstairs and went with LG and it solved the issue.

Also don’t use the modes or any fancy magic they do on any tv. Keep any settings you can off that you don’t need and keep the basic needs for the tv. Latency will be much better and issues kept down to a minimum.

I had tried an LG 4K TV at one point that required “game mode” to get any form of responsiveness out of it, similar issue with it kicking out of game mode on any screen resolution change. Unfortunately, I don’t really have /that/ much of a workaround for you; my solution was to go back to the 1080P panel I’d been using and returning the one that couldn’t just put the HDMI input on the screen. Since then I wound up with a fairly cheap Pioneer, but at least it doesn’t suddenly decide do have tenths of a second of delay because I changed resolutions or restarted my computer or…

If enabling GPU scaling fixes the problem, any reason to intentionally avoid it?

There should be no issues with responsiveness in almost any newer tv. They are just bloated with unnecessary tomfoolery to make things seem like they run smoother. Its a hard adjustment when you switch out of those settings because you have adjusted to them just like when you are on the highway for a long time then get back into town and everything seems slow.

Each to there own but more settings off the better.
