So in a few months I will be building my own pc, it will be able to run any game just fine but I was wondering what pc games I should buy old or new. Since I have been playing on consoles for a while I just ask that they are pc exclusives unless I can get the game cheap. Thanks.
STALKER games, pick up call of pripyat fairly cheap on steam.
Ya I had heard of that game seems fun. I'll have to check it out
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series have always been better than ever. Too bad GSC shut down, meaning the upcomming sequal was sacked. Damn all of the world war-style FPS fantards (no offense) for not appreciating other FPS games :(
Stalker games for sure, lots of fun. I would also suggest the original Crysis. I personally think of Crysis 1 as a PC exclusive because the console version was just a lot of fog lol. I'd also suggest Crysis Warhead. Hard Reset is a great shooter, old school and it looks amazing. Blacklight Retribution, it's free and so much fun. A lot of great graphics options as well. Skyrim for PC feels like a PC exclusive, also mods mods mods. If you like MMO's then Guild Wars 2 is coming out on the 28th. You have time to check out some reviews and gameplay videos before you get your PC built.
Have fun and good luck with your build. Keep us updated! :)
i would suggest Gmod, its kinda old now, altho v13 is appearing very soon, its around £5 $5 on steam and very good fun, build ur own stuff etc if u can get the servers working its very good fun with friends for like zombie survival maps :)
If you like RTS games I would suggest getting Command & Conquer The First Decade. Also Age Of Empites 1,2,3 and the Free to play AOE. There is also a lot of Free 2 play games on steam witch is worth a ago like BlackLight Retrinution (FPS), Fallen Earth (FPS), APB Reloaded (3rd Person), War Ink BattleZone (FPS).
DayZ (Free Mod) but you need Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation ArrowHead to be able to play it. Give it a look up on youtube.
Well the Half Life games are a must. Deus Ex, Thief, X-Com, Planescape: Torment, and Baldur's Gate for old games that kick ass. Starcraft (1+2) and C&C are great RTSs. Killing Floor is lots of fun if you want a zombie game. For horror you can get Amnesia and Penumbra. Some others I'm just kind of randomly thinking of are Divine Divinity, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Painkiller, The Walking Dead, Dawn of War....
Oh and TF2 is free now.
That should get you off to a good start with some variety.
And good luck on your build.
Back when I had a pc (I believe running windows 98 or 2000) aoe 2 was my favorite game. I've always had a thing for rts games but they never get them right on xbox.
Half - Life 1&2+Episodes
There's always the Half Life series. Others I would recommend are Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, Battlefield 3, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Starcraft 2, Tribes Ascend, any of the Deus Ex games, F.E.A.R., Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal and Portal 2, Batman Arkham Asylum/City, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, and Sins of a Solar Empire.
There's always Guild Wars too, but you might just want to wait for the second one to come out since it's right around the corner. There's Total Annihilation too, which is an awesome RTS game from 1997, but you probably won't be able to find it at stores anywhere. I can give you a copy if you need one though.
So, you like RTS... here are some to check out:
- Total War Series
- Galactic Civilizations (not really RTS, but good)
- Sins of a Solar Empire
For everything else:
- Deus Ex (part 1): it's the best game ever made, but you have to get over the old graphics
- Amsesia: The Dark Descent: very slow but interesting and creepy
- Frozen Synapse: strategy... you will get hooked if you get into it
- Heroes of Might and Magic: Turn based strategy at it's finest
- The Elder Scrolls games are TOTALLY different on PC thanks to the mods. A console gamer would never recognize my copy of Skyrim, Oblivion, Nehrim, or Morrowind
- Half Life
Fancy some indie games?
- Trine 1 and 2
- Bastion
- Cave Story+
- Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
- Legend of Grimrock: old school RPG fun
Everyone, thank you for your recommendations I will have to keep all these games in mind once my pc is up and running
Nr1: Get Steam and send Gabe a box of chocolates afterwards.
Trine 1 and 2
Team Fortress 2
People have mentioned the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, they are not for a new beginner, its a really immersive game just so you know.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has a great mod that makes the game playeable online called Multi theft Auto, definetely worth a look.
World Of Warcraft, a great mmorpg, best if played with friends.
One game and one game only Dark Souls
