Well I have bit the bullet (yes I know, may GabeN have mercy on my sales) and purchased an XBOX One a couple of days ago along with a copy of Halo Master Chief Collection. I might be willing to purchase Evolve on the console as well when it comes out.
So far the whole "console" experience has been okay to say the least.
First thing I want to point out:
Visual Appearance of the Dashboard:
At first glance you have a some what disorganized and crammed UI that puts thing in places that you would normally like to see a dedicated tab for.
There are 4 main tabs:
Pins, Home, Friends, and Store
Sure you can solve the problem with Pins and organized your own home screen but this only applies to apps or games installed on the console. Instead why not give us the option much like the Modern Tiles on Windows 8?
Here is an example of what the home screen looks like:
Overall its not too bad but some basic customization options besides using a custom image as a background.
Now for how I go about getting my current peripherals to work with the console.
Unfortunately the console does not accept a USB mic unlike the way the XBOX 360 did. Not only can you not use a USB microphone, even if you managed to get it working, there is no way of getting audio through the speakers unless you use a Kinnect, but who would want to do that in the first place. I would like to emulate the Kinnect being plugged into the console to access voice chat through speakers, but as of now I still have no knowledge of how to go about doing so or if anyone has successfully done so.
So far my options are to use adapter that I have use in the past [LINK] and use a wired mic along with my IEMs.
This first option seems the easiest since I already own the adapter but I will still need to purchase the XBOX One Stereo Headset Adapter which retail for $24.99USD.
Currently my main choice is purchasing a DAC (which I have already done) with a optical audio input along with the cable to provide the sound. This option still requires me to purchase the headset adapter but I will only need to run the microphone through that leading to less cable clutter.
What ever the choice I pick I will update the thread and what works for me.
