I am a huge fan of your show! Since I was six years old I have been dismantling and later been building budget PC rigs for myself. I wanted to know how to get into building custom and exciting PC´s for high end users/gamers, including mods, water cooling and PC case design.
I have so much to learn and so much creativity to exploit.
Actually, I would not only expand my knowledge in pc or server building really just on the hardware-side to get a job.
Knowledge in Pc-Structure and architecture can also positivly affect your work-life when you're like .... yeah ... take me as an example, I'm an economist with main focus on experimental indicators (don't know if this terminology is really correct) ... But mainly my work is focused on statistical theories on paper (kinda like maths ... just more variables to consider and look after).
But expecially, when I think about how poorly the equipment is, we often get from our institutes or Tech-department it's never a bad Idea to get in the kinda storage-functioned server-room (actually a fucking big server-room) and build a rig out of spare parts that can actually do your equasions with massive amounts of data.
So ... I get my work done and can write papers on that and can get a little bit farther with my science than our non-tech-knowledged scientists at the institute.
So I even consider the knowledge to build a pc something that raises the level of your work-life ... and I hope that many people can consider the same.
(Also I want to fuck up our tech-department for giving us shitty hardware :P)
I mean ... why the fuck should I work with a ancient core 2 duo, when I can use a 3820k when just nobody uses it?
Honestly there is a few ways you can go about doing this. one way would be learning how to 3d render or if you can draw that will work too. design a case from top to bottom and consult computer case companies that you have an idea for a case and sell your idea to them by telling them special features and how it differs from other cases. Building custom computers is another ball game. if you aren't a well known builder chances are your going to have a difficult time selling something you build. best thing you can try going that route is build a water cooled computer with acrylic tubing and maybe cut through a power supply and add colored plexiglass and a light. if you get well known in the computer community then try contacting major companies during technology releases and build up a rig for them to display during those events. that's just my opinion anyway.
