PC build suggestions

Hey guys,

Since tax return checks are coming, I'm planning on building a PC. I already have a case(FD Define R4) so I just need... well, everything else inside of it. My balance is roughly $1750(for everything including monitor, input devices, etc) and I've come up with a list of parts. What I need is suggestions as to other parts to use if you have anything to recommend. Performance obviously takes the drivers seat but I want everything to at least match a bit. I would prefer everything to be black or black/white, the red/black style everything is in now is not preferred but it's the best I could find that also matches the performance I'm wanting. I would like to do a tiny bit of OC, just to squeeze a bit more juice out of everything but nothing crazy.

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer. I want something basic that works, this one just caught my eye due to the usb 3, quality parts, red/black style(which is... okay), etc.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 4.0 8-core. I want at least a 6-core, this one looks good. That's all I have to say about this one.

CPU Cooler: This one I'm tied between the H110 and the Kraken X60, the price is about the same so in the end I would prefer to get the Kraken.

RAM: Right now I have 16GB of Ripjaw X Series 1600. Again let me know what you would recommend, I want 16GB at least.

GPU: Here I prefer something with Mantle, AMD preferred heavily and something that will be able to preform really well vs. the price. Again just personal preference on the AMD route. I'm looking at the MSI R9 280X OC 3GB Gaming Edition card right now.

PSU: Fractal Design Tesla R2 800W. Let me know if this is enough. I'm pretty sure it is, but.

Storage: 1x Kingston V300 120GB SSD and 1x or 2x Seagate 2GB Barracuda drives.

Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013 Black Edition

Keyboard: Right now I'm looking at the Corsair Vengeance K70 with MX Red switches. I would prefer something with white lights but I really like this keyboard.

Monitor: Asus VH238H 23" 1080p monitor. 1080p for me is just fine.

And I believe that's everything. Again please let me know suggested parts and ideas. If all of these parts lick hippo hair let me know what you would suggest if you had similar budget restrictions.

Thanks.

Everything looks pretty good.

Just a note on the power supply.  You might want to pick up a modular power supply as the amount of cables that come out of high wattage psus are really hard to manage due to the sheer number.

i think with the k40 you can choose exactly what colour backlighting you want

Do you have a recommendation? I'll probably get the Corsair I was looking at if you recommend a modular one.

i don't think that 280mm rads fit in the r4 by default, unless you're prepared to do a bit of modding (http://themodzoo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/775-diy-case-mod-guide-280-radiator-in-fractal-design-r4/) to fit it into the front

Hm... yeah I am lazy, so I guess I'll keep it on the safe side and go with the H100i... or X40.

with a $1750 budget... and I started a thread about this last weekend that blew up into a Intel vs AMD shootout... you're obviously looking for performance...

Any particular reason you're going 8350 over 4670k or 4770k (with xeon out of the picture since you want to overclock)?

Also... mantle turned out to be a flop on high-end CPUs... you might reconsider, especially in the states to a 780 or 780ti... which you have the budget for either....

also, I wouldn't buy an ASRock mobo unless I was forced to with budget crisis... Asus is my go-to... MSI would be my second choice... I guess it depends how important your color scheme is...

Thank you for the recommendations. I was looking into things more and more after reading this... and I think, after much debate and staring at the screen, that I'm going to just say screw it and go for a 780ti. I'm thinking about the EVGA 780ti Superclocked edition 3GB.

Other than that I have changed things around slightly, I'm going to go for a black/white/grey(silver) build. Let me know what you think about the changes.

Things that are changed:

Motherboard: Changed to GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3. I still prefer AMD and, for the price I'm seeing it at compared to the 4670k, still think the 8350 is awesome.

PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W. REALLY hoping this is enough power...

RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 16GB 1866

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 3GB(which I'm probably going to drool over for a while instead of actually using it. *Edit* forgot to mention I'm going to go for the one with the dual fan EVGA ACX Cooler.

Asrock is better than Gigabyte. i have that mobo and it has the worst uefi of all time. Go with a Asus 990fx pro or the Asrock, just not a Msi or Gigabyte on AM3+.

Looks like ASRock has a 990fx pro board as well.

let me reiterate... I wouldn't buy a ASRock mobo unless I was forced to in a budget crisis... I wouldn't buy a Gigabyte mobo if Jesus came down from heaven and demanded I did for passage (personal experience biased)...

in short... you have the budget for the 990 chipset, the Asus M5A99FX PRO is just... the way to go...

personally with that budget I'd build this...

if you want watercooling, room for it... extra 2TB storage... room for it... but that's an i7/780ti... great mobo, fits your color scheme for the most part... A+ case... do what you do, but this is a straight up ridiculous PC that will last 8 years with minimal attention... I'd do this... :P

Just don't get locked into parts for the color scheme...

EDIT: I just reread the OP and it's supposed to include monitor etc... my bad... I retract this build... I'll do another one later with all the peripherals and less overkill... gotta cuddle the mrs right now...

Thank you for the help/suggestions. Yeah I do need pretty much everything except the case, I have a R4 case already here.

XFX power supplies use all japanese caps and are OEM'd by seasonic.  I like em a lot.

80+B Semi-Modular:

Corsair's power supplies are pretty good.  You may want to look into getting higher wattage versions if you're going with the Builder CX series as they aren't of the greatest quality.

Any Seasonic power supply will be very good as well.  They are a bit pricy, though.

Antec High Current Gamer is of a decent quality.
