This is my build so far http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2XapR. I'm going to be using it for gaming mostly, a little bit of CAD(Inventor and Solidworks), and some Mathematica. Any suggestion particularly on the video card? I was trying to keep it under $1000 but $1100 is my ceiling. This is also going to be my first build.

I switched out the RAM and SSD. Anything much above 1600 for RAM and you won't notice it. It's also cheap enough that I added a faster SSD while coming in four cents cheaper.
Looks pretty good. wiemerimer's build should be a little bit faster due to a better performing SSD.
