PC Build for around $600

Gaming build for $600. I actually managed to put together a Z97 build in this price range!

Thanks in advance

Z97 YAY! BUT WAIT

You don't need a Z97 board because you are using a locked processor and the whole build will be crap at gaming and anything else because you only have 4GB of RAM and a GTX 750.

$11 more and this will wreck that.

Well, you see. The kids, they lissen to the rap music

That is helpful.

Sorry. If you could put together a build anywhere from $600-$625 with a NVIDIA card that would be dandy, thanks M8

A bit over, but I got a 760 in there.

Any reason other than fanboyism?

Because for that price you are looking at a GTX 760. The R9 280 is cheaper than the 760 and faster.

Hell if you wanna go a little over $625 you could get a 280X which would really stomp the 760...

The 280X is on par with the 770, for reference.

What is the PSU requirement for the 280?

Its 2014. Don't buy an AM3+ board. Zero upgradeability.

Did you just recommend a Dual Core CPU?

Apparently, as well as unmatched RAM sticks totalling to ~$95.  Otherwise, it's actually not that bad; I just think that Intel is a bit expensive for the budget(esp unlocked/Z97 stuff)

I'm actually quite proud of myself

EVGA GeForce GTX 750 1GB Video Card

Ehh, you skimped quite a bit there.

Well you see, I will be upgrading to two 760s in SLI, that card is temporary.

Like, very temporary. I'm talking 2 months.

The 280X is usually faster actually.

A good 550W unit will be plenty.

First off you should never run SLI unless you are already at the top of the range and need more power. MultiGPU setups are a pain in the ass and should usually be avoided. A single more powerful card is usually a better idea.

The PSU in your build won't be able to power two GPUs anyway.

If you can get two cards in two months why not just wait? Why spend the extra cash and get a shitty card? Just wait.

The Pentium when not OCed is slower than a 760k or about the same depending on the task. It could bottleneck especially in some more demanding games, at higher resolutions and for multiGPU set ups.

The AM3+ option isn't dumb. Yeah there is no upgradeability but it doesn't matter. An FX-6300 or 8350 will easily last two more years. By that time AMD and Intel will have completely new stuff on completely different platforms. So you'd need to buy a new CPU and motherboard anyway. So buying a crappy CPU then a better one later. Then keeping it for a while doesn't make any sense to me.
