Pc Build 950$

im going to building a pc in about 2 weeks, my budget is about $950 but i can go a little more. i would also need an OS. does anyone know of a good pc build that is done around the 270x?

This should do everything you need - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2rkRE

very nice GPU (will smack a 270x like it's nothing, the 770 is by far the best value ATM in the GPU market), very nice PSU, very nice mobo, good CPU, good CPU cooler, decent RAM, decent 1TB HDD...

really the only things sacrificed were high end ram (which isn't that big of a deal trust me I have 16GB of DDR3-1866 don't notice the difference unless I'm video editing) and the 120GB boot SSD (which will really speed things up)

he'd have a rough time overclocking an 8 core with that mobo, and not a big fan of the CX series of PSU, otherwise, nice build

so you are telling me a 770 will outperform a 280x? please show me something to prove it

What i would choose, would be this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2rvG6

With that motherboard, you can overclock the hell out of that 8320, wich will be possible with that H2O 650 liquid cooler, and 750W will be more than enough

The R9 280X outperforms the 770 2 GB card in almost all tests, and with mantle coming, your performance will get a 20-50% boost, if the game supports mantle. Also it has a 3GB frame buffer, wich will be good in the future with games now utilizing 2 GB and more of it. The card is also very overclockable, and with that psu, a great OC is possible.

The case has great ventilation, good cable management, and great build quality.

The 60 GB SSD is very optional, but i went with it, to speed up your OS loading times and make it feel much smoother and responsive.

This is only a suggestion, ofcourse you can choose others if you like nvidia or intel more, but what i have seen and what have been tested, the 8320 has better Price/performance ratio, than an intel i5, and the same goes on with the R9 280X, it is just more power for your money. and if you go with the GTX 770, you should pick the 4 GB model, because the 2GB frame buffer would be a big bottleneck in a couple of years, or even faster, because games are starting to utilize more than 2 GB of vram

anyways, hope i helped and have a great time building :)

My contribution http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2rw9j

first off I told you it'd smack around a 270x, not a 280x... but yes it will outperform a 280x for $100 less and on top of that the only place it's in stock is NewEgg for $419

http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/graphics-cards/386179/amd-radeon-r9-280x-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-770

then how can i find it on stock for the same amount that the gtx 770 costs? and keep in mind, the GTX 770 has only 2 GB of frame buffer, and that won't last for long, because games like battlefield 4 are using more than 2 gigs of GDDR5 frame buffer, so the card would bottleneck his system in a year or 2 maximum. and you are forgotting MANTLE wich will give amd gpu's a huge performance boost, wich will just swipe floors with gtx 770.

but again, not my build, choose whatever you want :)

r9 270 is cheaper than a 270. i have a r9 270 myself and have it at 1100mhz. there is no deference. if you really want a 270x. than go with the gigabyte. nzxt t40 beats the hyper 212 evo and is the same price. and if you want better temps you can buy anohter fan. which isn't possible with the hyper 212 evo because it is designed for a single fan. the r9 270 isn't the best card. don't expect to run everything on ultra. but a r9 280x isn't an option.

no offence, but all the benchmarks tell me that the 280x is better that gtx 770, but it is his loss, if he picks the 770, once again, not my pc :)

pretty sure i'm talking about the r9 270. where dit the gtx 770 came from? and 280x is a good if you oc it. but the 280x is 400$ or more. gtx 770 comes with 3 games and 100$ off for a shield. gtx 770 is the winner atm. even witht he 2gig. don't know if it still comes with the 3 games atm. some 280x come with bf4, not all of them and bf4 is 30$ and i played it and i don't like it. so many bugs.

but your reaction is a bit weird.

your reaction si weird. and the R9 280X outperforms the GTX 770 from the box. And, how are you saying its 400+$ when i can find them for 339$, the same as a GTX 770. And the R9 280X would also be a mor efuture proof option, since it has a 3 GB frame buffer, compared to 2 GB that the GTX 770 has. So, in a year or two, the GTX 770 would be seriously bottlenecked by its VRAM, since games are already starting to use more than 2 GB of VRAM :)

i never said that the gtx 770 is better than a 280x when you posted you reaction????? your weird. if you want to mess with people you came to the wrong place. most 280x are 400$ a few are 340$

i'm not messing here with people, i'm just giving my suggestions on getting best bang for their buck. if you have a problem with that, you should leave, not me :)

i talk about a r9 270 and a 270x. and than you said a r9 280x is better than a gtx 770.

that's the same if i were talking about a galaxy s2. and than you say an galaxy s3 is way better than an iphone 5s? it doesn't make sence at all.

you said the gtx 770 "is BY FAR the best value" it isn't. the R9 280X is way better value

that's what i said.

A gtx 770 is faster than a 280x and is cheaper. You are saying that the 280x is cheaper than a 770 and competitive with it. Well you may want to check the stock on those. The 280x you keep saying in $320 is out of stock. The only ones in stock are above the $400 mark. Plus as a Gtx 770 user i can tell you that i never use more than 2gb of v-ram on Battlefield 4. I tracked my v-ram usage in Gpu-z and it was at the 1.7gb mark in a 64 person conquest match. The recommend frame buffer is 3gb because most AMD cards have 3gb V-ram and DICE is partnered with AMD so ya, they would put out the specs for the recommended AMD video card. Also you're frankly a fucking moron to say that Mantle is going to give a 20-50% boost in performance. Mantle was supposed to be shown, not released, this December. And December is coming to a close, and no Mantle yet. And i doubt how much they'll be working on mantle on new years. Mantle isn't coming for a while. And even then with how much its being delayed, its not going to be much of a factor for a while. And also there's the fact that Nvidia has the option to also use mantle if they want so if its actually a good jump in performance, it won't be exclusive very long.

This is what I'd do for a $1000 Pc. You could chop it down to $950 by just removing the SSD http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2sO6f
