So I just put an old audio card in my PC and when I booted it up there was no display. I tried using VGA instead of hdmi and still nothing. So i took out the audio card and am still having the same problem.
I'm hoping i didn't fry any of the hardware in it as I don't have an anti static band or anything like that but I grounded myself by touching a metal heater plugged in and not turned on.
Does anyone know of any ways to tell if the CPU, RAM or Mobo is acting up? I'm hearing one beep when I boot and the HDD activity light flashes.
Hmm. Are the case fans running? LED's on your MOBO working? Can you bring up the BIOS? Just trying to get more info.
Yeah the fans are running, when i plug in my mouse the laser turns on but the LED's on the outside don't turn on which seems odd to me. My motherboard doesn't have any LED's and I can't bring up BIOS because there's no display, I wouldn't know whether the keyboard is being registered and the PC is going into BIOS settings as I can't see anything.
First things first, check to make sure everything is securely plugged in. All cards, cables, ram sticks hard drives etc. Second, clear the CMOS. Pop the battery out, wait 30 seconds or so, then pop it back in. If you are using a video card, remove it and try the onboard if your MB has it. If none of that works, unplug/remove everything (including keyboard and mouse) but a single stick of ram (and a video card if your mb doesn't have onboard). If it posts, then start adding in components (shut down before adding anything obviously) until it doesn't post, then you have your culprit.
Also, posting the specs/components of the computer would be helpful.
Thanks man! I cleared the CMOS and reseated everything and now it's working :)
I'm not sure what the culprit was but it doesn't seem like any of my hardware is bad, think something had just come loose when i was tucking cables away.
No sweat. Glad you got it working.
