Patent case against GNOME resolved

The patent case against gnome has been resolved.

Firstly, I just want to point out that his frivolous lawsuit has been represented pro-bono by Matt Berkowitz, Kieran Kieckhefer, Joy Wang and Larry Crouch from Shearman & Sterling L.L.P. for the last 10 months.

These guys deserve all the credit and the entire FOSS community will be all the better for their efforts. The debt of gratitude that these guys have earned will be talked about for a long time.

That being said, this entire suit was filed because Leigh Rothschild got butthurt that someone may have used something similar to his photo sorting. However in these proceedings it was discovered that if he lost this patent would have been invalided so he just dropped it.

FYI… there are 10 more patent cases that has been filed against Gnome since July of 2019 by Rothschild.

Not that it matters to me I use KDE. :stuck_out_tongue:
