Hey i was wondering if there was any trust worthy password mangers as i used to use the same password for everything so im going back through and changing all of my passwords and it would be helpful if i could put them all in one place on my pc instead of on a piece of paper
I use Keepass. Its easy to use and has a lot of authentication options.
The company I work for has some strict security standards and they approved the software for use. I guess that pushed me to use it over of others.
Companies I have worked for have also used Keepass, it's a decent piece of software.
i use awallet for my android, it's been pretty tight butthole.
ok awesome ill take a look
I second keepass and its forks/rebuilds. Very well done and safe and it has flavors for every platform under the sun.
Sigh. Using anything on an Android phone is 3picF41l . Not even with containers.
Use something respected and built from the ground up by security experts and hasn't been front line news as being compromised multiple times.
Use PasswordSafe.
If you want security use layers. Full disk encryption and shim your pwsafe into a high entropy file like a video file using TC.
I use Lastpass.
If you pay for premium then you can use the Android/iOS app. It's able to fill in passwords in any app.
I've always felt odd about using a password manager, don't trust em.
LastPass gets my recommendation.
Keepass is free software, works off line, you have full control, it supports windows and Linux (Mac too?) and has a number of android and chrome apps/plugins (and generally a lot of plugins all-round) that you can use.
+2
Yup it has a 2 rebuilds that work ion MAC OS. Kypass Companion and KeepassX (KeepassX uses the previous database file type so you have to convert it in Keepass from .kdbx to .kdb before being used in X).
And as @Eden said its free software and works off-line with local files. I would not trust cloud-based services either. That is why i prefer keepass.
I feel the same way. Even though i use same password for all the important stuff, i dont feel comfortable using password managers. That's silly :)
Big mistake to use same password for all the important stuff.
While I've worked at companies that have used Keepass, I keep all the important logins in the depths of my brain.
I currently sift through about 37 different passphrases on a daily basis.
