Passive Fiber Connection?

I’m not sure if this is the correct title. Passive in this case means without switches but with patch connectors and transceivers.

Stated another way

“Are SC patch connectors agnostic and transparent”

Can I run

SFP+ tranciever->
Simplex cable->
SC connector->
Simplex cable->
SC connector->
Simplex cable->
SFP+Tranciever

My gut feeling is that there needs to be a active correction somewhere in that run, but maybe not.

Small network builder is kind of short on fiber optic scenarios (ha ha).

Yeah this works fine. I have a similar set up at home using LC connectors but they're essentially the same thing. You just need to make sure the TX on the first transceiver ends up plugged in to the RX on the other and vice versa. Most cables by default are crossed over so all you have to do is plug them and and it will work. If you get a straight one they're easy to change, there's just a plastic clip that holds the two connectors together, you just swap them over on one end.
