I want to get into linux since all the computers in college run linux, so I sometimes run into compatibility problems when I want to continue my work from college at home, however, I recently lost my second hard drive, so I will have to partition my only remaining one, but I have to manage it carefully since it's only 1TB. My question is: can I just make a 10GB linux partition, and store everything (program installations included) in the windows partition?
Also, will I run into driver problems for my r9 380? I think I'll probably be running linux mint if it matters.
Thanks.
Yes you can however if the computer has UEFI booting with a protected windows partition lets say it can be very challenging. It is easier if you have the older bios boot system.
You should be able to disable secure boot in the UEFI or add the grub UEFI to the secure boot whitelist and it should be all set.

I've had minor issues on Arch with the R9 380, but I think it's a configuration issue on my end. The 380 should be pretty stable under mint.
